FINISH SUBSTATION YARD AS DETAILED AND AS PER BARRICK STANDARDS

AND PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS.

GENERAL NOTES:

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO LOCATE AND DELIVER THE

SURFACE ROCK MATERIALS TO THE SITE. MATERIAL TO BE INSTALLED

THROUGHOUT THE SUBSTATION YARD AND 5' OUTSIDE THE PERIMETER OF

THE FENCE.

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEST RESULTS FROM A SOILS

LABORATORY VERIFYING THE MATERIAL TO BE USED FOR THE SURFACE ROCK

MEETS THESE SPECIFICATIONS.

THE SURFACE ROCK MATERIAL SHALL BE CLEAN, CRUSHED MATERIAL

MEETING THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

FRACTURED FACES:

ALL PARTICLES SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF ONE FRACTURED FACE, AND

SEVENTY PERCENT OF ALL PARTICLES SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF THREE

FRACTURED FACES.

RESISTIVITY:

TWO SAMPLES OF SURFACE ROCK SHALL BE TESTED IN CONFORMANCE WITH

ASTM G57-78, THE SAMPLES SHALL HAVE A MEASURED RESISTIVITY OF

GREATER THAN 3000 OHM-METERS.

THE SUBSTATION AREA SHALL BE GRADED TO DRAIN AWAY FROM THE

SUBSTATION. GRAVELED AREAS SHALL BE GRADED WATERED AND

COMPACTED.

THE AREA SURROUNDING THE SUBSTATION SITE SHALL BE CLEANED OF ALL

CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL AND DEBRIS.

ALL SURFACES OF ALL CONNECTIONS MADE WITH ALUMINUM CABLE SHALL BE

FIRST CLEANED, COATED WITH AN OXIDE INHIBITING COMPOUND, AND

BRUSHED WITH A STAINLESS STEEL BRUSH TO DISLODGE OXIDES. ALL

HARDWARE AT BOLTED CONNECTIONS SHALL BE COATED WITH THE

COMPOUND AFTER THE CONNECTION IS MADE.

THE GROUNDING CONDUCTORS ON EQUIPMENT AND STRUCTURES SHALL BE

4/0 COPPER, ATTACH TO 4/0 COPPER GROUND GRID WITH CADWELD

CONNECTOR, OR APPROVED COMPRESSION CLAMP.

ALL BOLTS, NUTS, WASHERS, LOCK WASHERS, AND BELLEVILLE WASHERS ON

ENERGIZED PARTS (IE. BUS SUPPORT CLAMPS ON INSULATORS, CONNECTORS,

ETC.) SHALL BE STAINLESS STEEL. ALL OTHER HARDWARE TO BE GALVANIZED,

UNLESS APPROVED BY OWNER OR ENGINEER. ALL HARDWARE THAT IS

DEFORMED OR DAMAGED SHALL BE REPLACED BY THE CONTRACTOR.

OPEN TRENCHES SHALL BE MARKED WITH APPROPRIATE BARRIERS AND

BARRIER TAPE AT ALL TIMES. FINAL BACKFILL SHALL MATCH SURROUNDING

AREAS. COMPLETE BACKFILL IN 8” LIFTS. 90% MODIFIED PROCTOR DENSITY

COMPACTION SHALL BE MET PRIOR TO STARTING THE NEXT LIFT.

INCOMING STRUCTURE ELEVATION

* THESE ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED CLEARANCES ABOVE GROUND INSIDE

SUBSTATIONS FOR THE VOLTAGE LEVELS SHOWN.

THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW THE EQUIPMENT AND PROPOSED

EQUIPMENT PLACEMENT AND ORIENTATION FOR CONDUIT STUB-UP AND

ENTRY DETAILS PRIOR TO FINAL PLACEMENT OF CONDUIT.

BURIED CONDUIT SHALL BE BACKFILLED WITH 1500PSI RED CONCRETE

SLURRY A MINIMUM TWO INCH BED AND COVERED WITH MINIMUM TWO INCHES

PRIOR TO BACKFILLING. PROVIDE “DANGER - BURIED CABLE” MARKER TAPE

12” ABOVE THE CONDUITS.

WHERE A GROUND CONDUCTOR PASSES THROUGH FLOORS, SLABS, WALLS,

ETC. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND INSTALL PVC SLEEVES OF THE

REQUIRED SIZE AND LENGTH. SLEEVE TO EXTEND A MINIMUM OF 1" BEYOND

FINISHED FLOOR, SLAB, WALL, ETC. TO PROVIDE PHYSICAL PROTECTION.

THE FENCE GROUNDING SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED AS DETAILED AND

CONNECTED TO THE SUBSTATION GROUND GRID AT LOCATIONS SHOWN ON

THE PROJECT DRAWINGS.

WARNING SIGNS SHALL BE INSTALLED ON ALL FENCE GATES AND ON

PERIMETER FENCING AT A MAXIMUM SPACING OF 50FT. SIGN SHALL CARRY

THE WORDING:

"DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE"

"UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL KEEP OUT"

NAMEPLATES AND TAGS

LAMACOID LABELS SHALL BE USED CONSISTING OF 3MM THICK 3 LAYER

WHITE/BLACK/WHITE LAMINATED PLASTIC WITH CHAMFERED EDGES.

LETTERING SHALL BE BLACK. WARNING LABELS SHALL BE PROVIDED AS PER

THE NEC FOR ALL ELECTRICAL ROOMS, FENCES AND EQUIPMENT. COLORS

AND SIZES SHALL BE AS PER NEC REQUIREMENTS. LAMACOID LABELS SHALL

BE ATTACHED TO ALL EQUIPMENT WITH INDUSTRIAL GRADE ADHESIVE. THIS

INCLUDES ALL MAJOR SUBSTATION EQUIPMENT (TRANSFORMERS,

DISCONNECT SWITCH, CIRCUIT SWITCHER, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, VOLTAGE

REGULATOR, RECLOSERS, CAPACITOR BANKS) AND ALSO ALL SMALL POWER

EQUIPMENT INCLUDING RECEPTACLES, LIGHTS, JUNCTION BOXES, ETC.

POWER AND LIGHTING PANELS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED WITH PHASE, VOLTAGE

AND PANEL DESIGNATION.

COMMISSIONING WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN TWO PHASES. THE

CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT ALL EQUIPMENT CONTROLS

AND ALARMS FUNCTION AS DESIGNED AND THAT ALL EQUIPMENT IS INSTALLED

AND ADJUSTED PER MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. THE CONTRACTOR

SHALL PROVIDE MANPOWER TO WORK WITH THE BARRICK TESTING

CONTRACTOR TO COMMISSION ALL SUBSTATION EQUIPMENT, CONTROL AND

INDICATION CIRCUITS.

ACCEPTANCE TESTING

ALL MEDIUM VOLTAGE CABLE (ABOVE 5KV) SHALL BE FIELD TESTED AFTER

INSTALLATION AND BEFORE BEING PLACED IN SERVICE. FIELD TESTING SHALL

CONSIST OF A DC HIGH POTENTIAL TEST. 600V CABLE USED FOR POWER

DISTRIBUTION FEEDERS SHALL BE FIELD TESTED CONSISTING OF 1000V

MEGGER TESTING. PERFORM CONTINUITY CHECKS FOR ALL CT AND CONTROL

CIRCUIT WIRING TO VERIFY TERMINATION POINTS & WIRE NUMBERS ARE

CONSISTENT. ALL FAILED CABLES SHALL BE TOTALLY REPLACED WITH NO

ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
