Emily Socha ’16majors: Global Supply Chain Man-agement, Applied Analytics
hometown: Southington, CT
now: Sourcing Buyer at General Mills, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN
For four years at Bryant I made a series of decisions. Some easy, such as choosing my major, studying abroad, going to the library and putting in the extra effort for the A, and applying to be a resident assistant.
But some decisions were much harder. Like deciding on a minor/second concen-tration because I changed it about three times, and deciding which internships to take and if I could work part-time while being a full-time student. When making the important choices, I’ve learned that it’s good to think long-term.
I studied in Aix-en-Provence, France, and traveled to over 17 cities and 7 countries. I am already planning my next trip back and will continue to travel as much as I can!
I enjoyed challenging assignments that required strategic thinking and allowed me to work as a leader and team collaborator. I’m a personable, process-oriented, and dedicated worker who is focused on results.
At a time when the world is more interconnected than ever, your Bryant experience will guide you on a journey of discovery. You’ll build your confidence, trade easy certainty for life-changing curiosity, and develop the global perspective of intercultural knowledge that is a prerequisite for success.
Extensive study abroad and travel opportunities, combined with globally-oriented coursework and intercultural programming on campus, will help you understand the dynamic intersections of different worlds. You’ll learn to challenge assumptions and develop creative solutions that prepare you to make a differ-ence around the world.

Emmanuel Balandi ’16major: International Business – Global Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Global Studies

now: Financial Analyst at leading global financial services firm J. P. Morgan Chase & Co.
When I came to Bryant, my first and favorite class was Global Foundations of Business, and I landed my first internship at Bryant’s Chafee Center for International Business. I loved my internship because I was helping a real company with their expansion abroad.
I learned a great deal about valuations of stocks and companies in the Archway Investment Fund. I worked with Cyberay, a startup firm, to develop a roadmap for the commercialization of their product. I also worked with Alex and Ani to help them bring their packaging opera-tion in-house.
When I was elected to Student Senate as a legislator, I met members of the admin-istration and students from various classes. I began to understand the inner workings of campus and how everything is built around the success of the student. Being a part of Senate was not only a great leader ship experience, it made me part of the community.
Bryant has helped me to become a citizen of the world, and I try to excel in everything I do.

I am passionate about Bryant and thankful that I’ve been given the opportunity to attend school here. I’ve enjoyed serv-ing as an Orientation Leader and a Student Ambassador, and among many other activ-ities I’ve also had a chance to start a radio show with two of my closest friends.
Hogar El Alba is a home in Chile that takes in children who have experienced severe trauma from their parents. When I went to Chile with Bryant University, my fellow classmates and I visited the site to provide companionship to the children, and assist the directors of the program in any way they saw fit. We were able to raise hundreds of dollars that we donated to the home.
As a member of the Honors Program, I worked with my academic advisor to create an individualized pro-gram for my four years at Bryant. I am excelling aca-demically because of all of the resources that are available to students.

path: Division I tennis, an internship on Australia’s Gold Coast, on to postgraduate studies in cognitive psychology
Tennis has been a part of my life for my whole life—I’ve had a racket in my hands since age four. Coach Cilli was my first introduction to Bryant. We talk-ed on the phone and really hit it off, and when I visited Bryant, I was hooked. The campus was beautiful, the classes were small and everyone was very friendly. Playing on the team helps me maintain a balance between work and exercise.
I’ve been actively involved working with Applied Psychol-ogy Department Chair Nanci Weinberger on several research projects, and in March 2016 l presented a paper on gender media messages at the Eastern Psychology Association’s annual meeting in New York.
Bryant is a warm and wel-coming place, and all of the professors are willing to get involved with your education. It’s incredible to be surrounded by caring people who want you to succeed. My time at the university has been great.
Bryant’s Summer Intern-ship Fellowship provided the financial resources for Ryan to pursue the work she is pas-sionate about. She accepted a summer 2016 internship at Behavioral Mechanisms Explaining Disparities Lab at Rice University in Houston.

Bryant is great at preparing students for the “real world” with a focus on group projects and presentations, which helps you gain necessary experience for what it’s like to work with a team on a common goal.
The University also gives students plenty of opportunities to get involved and become leaders. These experiences and skills can help you stand out and make a difference in whatever you are passion-ate about.
