The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2011 was 127.35 or inflated 0.67 percent
from June 2011 at 126.50. In July 2011, the changes of each expenditure group as
follows: the foodstuff increased from 145.84 to 148.52 or inflated 1.84 percent; the
prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 135.41 to 135.98 or
inflated 0.42 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased from 122.13
to 122.36 or inflated 0.19 percent; the clothing increased from 129.84 to 130.65 or
inflated 0.62 percent; the health increased from 119.18 to 119.50 or inflated 0.27 percent;
the education, recreation and sport increased from 119.04 to 120.20 or inflated 0.97
percent, and the transportation, communication and financial services increased from
107.06 to 107.24 or inflated 0.17 percent.

The inflation in July 2011 was mainly caused by price increases of several
commodities, i.e.: rice, purebred chicken meat, purebred chicken eggs, gold accessories,
passenger plane fare, fresh fish, potato, filter cigarette, secondary school education fees
(SLTA), beef, preserved fish, cucumber, cabbage, orange, red onion, cooked rice & side
dishes served together, clove-flavored cigarette, leasing house fee, cement, rental house
fee, elementary school education fees, secondary school education fees (SLTP), and
academy/university tuition. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were
decreased, i.e.: garlic, small chili, mustard greens, tomato (vegetable), red chili, and
cooking oil.

In July 2011, the core of CPI changed from 122.57 to 123.08 or inflated 0.42
percent (see Table 2). The administered price component changed from 121.11 to 121.37
or inflated 0.21 percent and the volatile component changed from 148.07 to 151.11 or
inflated 2.05 percent.
The core inflation rate of calendar 2011 and year on year (July 2011 to July 2010)
were 2.34 percent and 4.55 percent respectively. While inflation rate of the administered
price component of calendar 2011 and year on year were 1.70 percent and 4.54 percent
respectively. Furthermore, inflation rate of the volatile component of calendar 2011 and
year on year were 0.28 percent and 5.07 percent.
