Conveyor Belt Group
Conveyor Belt Products GuideHigh Performance Belting for BulkMaterial Handling Applications
The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group is a technology leader and the world’s largest bulk material handling conveyor belt manufacturer. We carry a broad selection of both steel cord and textile reinforced conveyor belts, service/repair materials and special engineered products – for mining, machine and equipment construction and many other branches of industry. Starting with our flagship plant in Northeim, Germany – one of the most technologically advanced production facilities in the world, we now manufacture a complete range of belting products at factories strategically located around the globe.
ContiTech’s performance based conveyor belt technology represents safe, reliable, cost eicient and eco friendly operation – both above and below ground. ContiTech provides customer
oriented services worldwide. From consulting and planning for new and existing conveyor systems, to installation, start-up, and post commissioning service, our application engineers are at your service. These engineers are on hand to make design calculations using special computer programs and oer on-site recommenda-tions. They are backed by the total resources of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group and the experience gained in the use of our conveyor belts throughout the world.
All of our conveyor belt production is tracked by a comprehensive quality assurance program that fully complies with the require-ments of ISO 9001. The program draws heavily on the strict quality guidelines the ContiTech division applies in supplying the automo-tive industry. Alongside standard tests, properties like rubber penetration, troughability and the dynamic durability of the belt splices are also tested. In addition to ensuring compliance with the requirements defined in the standards, ContiTech laboratories are flexible enough to meet customer-specific demands, and can document each certification process.
ContiTech CoverCompounds
Oering high performance rubber covers with optimum properties is instrumental in ranking ContiTech number one in the world. Our portfolio of compounds contains a broad selection of cover stocks optimally adaptable to the applications of mining and industry. ContiTech oer compounds to meet global quality standards such as the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). The compound types go well beyond mere compliance with the stipulations contained in these types of standards. Their specific properties are the result of intensive research that is based on lifelike laboratory testing procedures and extensive, wide-ranging field trials. The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group has over 2,000 dierent compounds to choose from, and continues to develop additional compounds that extend conveyor belt life cycles. Here is a list of the most popular compounds along with their respective physical characteristics.

1. Impact resistance is based upon soft material with rounded edges plus the use of an appropriate design for loading and transfer points. For harder material with sharp edges, impact resistance is downgraded from the values shown in the table. Testing performed in accordance with DIN 22102. 2. Load support and minimum belt width can be influenced by the cover gauge utilized.
A tough belt designed for tough conditions, CONTI TITAN is constructed to withstand brutal operating conditions. The unique, highly engineered, straight-warp carcass is designed to maximize the resistance to extreme ripping, tearing, gouging, and impact stresses. Conventional plied conveyor belting utilizes fabric plies consisting of longitudinal and transverse yarns that cross over and under each other. This “crimping” of the yarns is elongated under tension, and as a result manifests additional stretch. The CONTI TITAN straight-warp fabric is designed with heavy duty, high-strength, straight yarns in the longitudinal direction, which are bound to heavy duty weft yarns with a specially engineered binder yarn. This unique construction eliminates most all of the crimp found in conventional conveyor belting fabrics.
CONTI TITAN is engineered and designed to provide the follow-ing characteristics:
• High-strength with exceptional dimensional stability• Rip and tear resistance that is 2-3 times that of conventional conveyor belting• Impact resistance that far exceeds conventional conveyor belting• Outstanding puncture resistance• Excellent flexibility and load support
CONTI TITAN is available in operating tension ratings up to 900 PIW (160 kN/m) in the single unit design and up to 2,250 PIW (400 kN/m) in the double unit design. Combined with one of ContiTech’s high-performance covers, CONTI TITAN will provide the lowest cost of ownership in demanding applications.

*Other types on request1) It is rcommendable that the belts will be spliced in a bias that depends on the vulcaniser used. Most vulcanisers have a bias of 16° 40', corresponding to 0.3 x belt width. 2) To be determined as per requirements. 3) With cover thicknesses normally used. 4) Belt weight: Add product of cover gauge (carrying side plus bottom side) and density.
Tried and tested in long distance conveyance in both surface and underground mining applications around the globe, STAHLCORD conveyor belts are available in many dierent belt designs and cover compound qualities. Thanks to the high tensile strength and low elongation of the steel cords, STAHLCORD belts are perfectly suited to long-distance conveyance. ContiTech is fully aware that these applications demand extremely wide and long conveyor belts. STAHLCORD is oered in widths up to 6400mm (252 inches), strengths up to ST10,000 and roll weights of up to 60 tons.
By employing state of the art equipment and the foremost technological methods, STAHLCORD quality is second to none. ContiTech manufactures their own steel cord which enables our factories to measure and control the entire production process from beginning to end. All parameters of production – cord design, compound quality, pre-tensioning of the cords, and vulcanization are expertly harmonized.

With smooth surface and contact layer
There are many surfaces on a conveyor that are subject to corrosion and wear. This undesirable change leads to reduced service life and increased downtime costs. Correx® lining has a contact layer which increases adhesion to the surface it is bonded to and enhances overall productivity.
With profiled surface and contact layer
In order to improve the resistance between the conveyor belt and the drive pulley, as well as, the frictional force under unfavorable drive conditions (e. g. wetness or contamination), drive pulleys are covered with profiled rubber or ceramic lagging.
In order to make repairs to damaged conveyor belts and other rubber lined surfaces, ContiTech developed Conrema®. Depending on the product, either one or two contact layers are used to maximize adhesion to the product being repaired. The Conrema® cold repair material product portfolio allows downtime to be minimized.
For specific jobs, it is now a technical standard to utilize cold bond technology with industrial adhesives. This technology is also employed in conveyor belt splicing, where hot vulcanization is not viable. This saves time and money and can be applied in many areas. ContiTech service materials use safe, non-carcinogenic ingredients in order to keep both our employees and clients free from harm.
• ContiSecur® BFA / Activator (two part cold adhesion)• ContiPlus® (bonding primer)• ContiSecur® PREMIUM (single part cold adhesion)• CCS Solution (cleaning solvent)
ABS scrapers with smooth surface and no contact layer can be used to clean the belt surface. These are available in dierent designs with dierent degrees of shore hardness.
