SubNetworks

German-Russian Virtual Network of BioinformaticsThe interlinking research topic is Analysis and Simulation of Biomolecular Systems and Processes. The main goal of this cooperation is knowledge transfer and initiation of bilateral projects.www.imbio.de/forschung

Network Green MaterialsAn initiative formed at the Hanover Fair in 2013. In the beginning the network will act as a platform to condense contacts and ideas, afterwards joint activities like project development groups or workshops will be supported.www.greenmaterials.owwz.de

Water Management NetworkFocus of the Network are Membrane Technologies and Waste Water Treatments - this network includes institu-tions from Germany, Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine.www.waternet.owwz.de

Young Scientists

The German-Russian Cooperation Network Biotechnolo-gy is specially interested to integrate and support young academics in both countries.Cooperation agreements for instance with institutes of the Russian Academy of Science in Pushchino ensure the participation within the annual international conference for young scientists. For 2014ff the network initiated a German-Russian Young Scientist Net BioEconomy.

German-Russian Cooperation Network BiotechnologyBased on agreements between Germany and Russia for strategic cooperation in education, research and innovation the German-Russian Cooperation Network Biotechnology has been launched in April 2005, fun-ded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Since January 2011 the East-West Science Centre (OWWZ) at the University of Kassel, Hessen is the Ger-man coordinator of the network. In Russia the A.N. Bach Institute of Biochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences hosts the networks̀ coordinating office. The institute coordinates the Russian Technology Platform „Bioindustry and Bioresources - BioTech2030“.

The German industry network CLIB2021 is the coordi-nating body for R&D cooperation between enterprises whilst OWWZ coordinates the cooperation in acade-mic research fields.

Scientific topics:• Bioinformatics&SystemsBiology

• Clinical Research

• LifeSciences&HealthEconomy

• BioeconomyinAgriculture,Forestry&Fisheries

Goals

The network aims to deepen, strengthen and enhance existing contacts between German and Russian bio-technology companies, research institutions and deci-sion makers in policy and administrations.

The network supports cooperation in:

• R&D between scientific institutions and companies

• Transfer of know-how in research management• Promotion of young scientists• Development of strategies as:

- Commercialisation of R&D products- Marketing on an international scale- Launching of joint economic enterprises

Based on the topics of interest already established in the network and considering current research trends within Biotechnology/Life Sciences the focus is on the following thematic areas:

• Genomics, Proteomics and Biochemistry• Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine• Bioinformatics• Nutrition and Food Biotechnology• Environmental and Resource Management• Bioeconomy in Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries• Pharmaceutics and Medical Devices
