SNCC in Mississippi Document Analysis
Students will read 2 different documented accounts of SNCC members in Mississippi for Freedom Summer. They will complete the organizer provided. This is to be completed individually.
Afterwards they will meet in a group based on the same readings to discuss what they read.
Then students will be regrouped in students that read different documents to discuss what they read and the similarities and differences

Activity: Singing for Freedom
Students will analyze song lyrics sung by SNCC members during Freedom Summer.
They will consider the role of the song in the movement while also identifying the emotions expressed, the message, and why it was sung.
