The Diocese of Baton Rouge honored New
Roads Mayor Robert Myer as the 2014
Catholic of Pointe Coupee Distinguished
Graduate. “I am deeply humbled to be
honored by the diocese and to be held in
esteem by my high school. I will forever
be grateful for the education and opportu-
nities afforded to me by the teachers and
administrators of Catholic of Pointe Cou-
pee,” said Myer. Myer is a 1980 graduate
of CHSPC. He was recognized at a dinner
celebration in January.

With a new school year comes a lot of school improvements. The main focus this summer was the school gymnasi-
um. Our Annual Fund, along with budgeted dollars, allowed us to make many improvements. The bathrooms and
foyer were completely renovated and updated. The gym floor has a nice sparkle to it as it was re-coated, as
well. New LED lighting was installed throughout the entire gym. The appearance was not the only improvement –
a new sound system was installed and the bleachers were completely repaired. Changing gears, the High School
computer lab was equipped with thirty new computers, and two additional mobile laptop labs were also ac-
quired. Thanks to our Home and School Association, the Elementary received a facelift with a beautiful new alumi-
num fence. On the athletic side, additional weights and weight racks were added to the weight room, a sand pit
was built adjacent to the practice field, and the football locker room was completely renovated with new flooring
and wood lockers.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
David Simoneaux Named CHSPC Head Football Coach
David Simoneaux, former Central High School offensive
coordinator, has been named CHSPC head football coach.
He coached under Sid Edwards and oversaw strength and
conditioning for all athletic programs during his six-year
tenure with the 5A Wildcats. He began his coaching career
at Parkview Baptist when he graduated in 2001 and played
on the Class 3-A state championship team his senior year.
Coach Simoneaux, along with the other new football coach-
es, Tim Lala, James Piker, and Devan Walker, plan to focus
on bringing a physical, hard-nosed football style to the
CHSPC program, utilizing lessons learned at their previous
coaching positions.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers,
alumni, and donors of the 2014-2015 school
year. Last year proved to be a record
breaking year on all accounts:
World’s Finest Chocolate - over $20,000
Annual Auction - over $75,000
Association meetings were met with incred-
ible attendance as we welcomed various
guest speakers at each meeting.
With the success of our fundraisers, the As-
sociation funded teacher grants, 2 student
scholarships, and allowed us to help fund
the new elementary fence!

GREEN HORNET CLUB/
GRIDIRON CLUB
GHC stays busy year round selling conces-
sions and manning the gate at all hornet
sporting events.
Their two major fundraisers, the Annual Auc-
tion and Jimmy Iturralde Golf tournament
proved to be a huge success, once
again! Due to the success of these fundrais-
ers, the Green Hornet Club was able to
grant two deserving seniors college scholar-
ships and they also continue to support our
athletic department as needed.
A big thank you to Monica Spustek who
served as Green Hornet Club president the
past five years! We appreciate you more
than you know!
New to the Green Hornet Club this year is
the formation of the Green Hornet Gridiron
Club. Please contact Coach David
Simoneaux if you would like to volunteer.

One Vision
Building on Success
Catholic School of Pointe Coupee is embarking on a new vision to
move forward.
In order to meet the needs of our school, the administrative team, along
with the school board, has created a plan for the future.
To reach our goals, we acknowledge the need for additional capital
funding. Accordingly, Catholic of Pointe Coupee has engaged the con-
sulting firm, Development Innovations 360, to conduct a comprehensive
feasibility study designed to assist us in determining the School’s readi-
ness to undertake a capital campaign
To find out how you can volunteer your time to this cause,
please contact the Business Office.
