Pyridine derivativesR 0380 β-Oxoanilides in Heterocyclic Synthesis: An Expeditious Synthesis of New Poly-
functionally Substituted Pyridine and Pyrazole Derivatives. — The potential of amide (I) for the synthesis of substituted pyridones from enaminone (III) utilizing active methylene reagents is explored. In addition, condensation of anilide (I) with triethyl orthoformate yields the ethoxy methylene derivative (XV) whose reaction with active methylene reagents and hydrazines affords products identical in all respects to those synthesized from (III). — (HUSEIN, A.
