Make it last with our easy car battery maintenance tips! Toyota of North
Charlotte’s expert service technicians are sharing with you how to maintain your
car battery and even extend its lifespan! You can save time and money by
performing these easy car maintenance tips yourself on your battery!
Tip #1: Concoct a paste made of distilled water and baking soda and use a wire
brush to scrub the battery terminals! When you remove the connectors, use the
wire brush to clean off dried up battery acid build-up. By giving your Charlotte car
battery a nice shine, you can guarantee that it will hold up longer! Don’t forget to
reconnect the connectors! Use a rubber mallet for a tight seal just in case!
Tip #2: Check the water level in your battery! Locate the fill caps on the box,
remove them to check how full or low the water level inside is. If it is low, refill
the battery with distilled water until the level reaches the fill line. If your battery
does not have fill caps, you can skip this tip because it is made differently!
Tip #3: Take a peek at your battery insulator! An insulator is designed to protect
your car battery from high temperatures and it’s important to regularly check it
for damages and to make sure it is still positioned properly!
Tip #4: With freshly cleaned terminals and tightly placed connectors, consider
using multipurpose grease to create a seal between the terminals and the
connectors. A good coat of grease on the battery will help prevent corrosion and
rust on the terminals.
Tip #5: Don’t forget to have your battery’s voltage tested when you bring your car
into our friendly Toyota Service Center in Charlotte! If your car is at our auto
