2015-2016 Iowa Assessment Data
● IOWA is a norm reference test. The IOWA uses a national percentile to compare your school to all the other schools in the nation. It compares schools to schools. The IOWA contains questions below grade level, at grade level and above grade level.
● IOWA sets cut scores based on a bell curve. The peak of the bell curve is the national average with 50% of schools scoring higher and 50% scoring lower. Your school is then placed on the curve to compare your school against the national average.
● Any score above the 50th national percentile ranking indicates the school is performing in the top half of all schools in the nation.

2016-2017 Iowa Assessment Academic Improvement Plan for Students
ADE (Arkansas Department of Education) requires each district to identify any student whose scaled score falls below proficient based on the national cut scores. Those students receive an AIP (Academic Improvement Plan) to identify and remediate the skills that need improvement. The student receives additional instruction using a variety of research based strategies until those skills are mastered.
The AIP is developed, reviewed, and signed by the parent and the teacher.

G/T and AP GrowsO For the first time in CPS history, we administered more
than 700 AP Exams in a testing season.
O 19% of AP exams administered last year resulted in a score of 1. This is down from 26% in 2014, and 20% in 2015. Our goal was to see this number below 20%.
O 1.3% of our senior class are National Merit Semi Finalists. This compares to just under 1% of students nationwide that receive this honor. Our goal is to maintain or increase this percentage.

National Merit Semi-Finalists
O The Cabot School District has 10 National Merit Semi-Finalists this year!
O This is a slight increase from the 9 we had last year, and still well above the national average. Less than 1% of seniors in our country receive this recognition, and 1.3% of our seniors have done so!
O To qualify, high school students must take the Preliminary SAT and meet published program entry/participation requirements.
