MaldivesThere are few secrets left in the world. The exotic has, in time, turned into
commonplace, but the Maldives remains an exception, both exotic and
still a secret. It is a place where your holiday begins with your expectations
already fulfilled. It is a corner of the world so pristine, so beautiful that you
would want to keep as your very own little secret.
The seaplane journey from the airport to the resort is
the perfect scene setter. The view from the window is
breathtakingly beautiful and unique to the Maldives.
Submerged reefs, resorts and desert islands dot the in-
terior of the atolls. The palette is a pared down choice of
blues, turquoise, green and ivory. Beauty and simplicity
is the promise and Royal Island delivers on that promise,
adding a dash of personal luxury.
Welcome to Royal Island
A long time ago, the island was inhabited and had the
honour of being home to royalty. The royal stone bath
is still preserved and offers a rare glimpse into the past.
We carry forward the royal heritage of the island and our
staff is at your disposal to make your stay as unique and
unforgettable as the island’s history.

If relaxation poolside is more your taste, drop into a chaise by the pool and
order up a frozen tropical drink.

An aristocrat would feel perfectly at home in our elegant guest rooms. Rich
coloured textiles, marble, carved wooden furniture and subtle lighting pro-
vide ambience and stately splendour. Complete privacy and quietness are
taken for granted. The beach and the crystal clear waters of the lagoon are
just a few steps away from the verandah.
P R E S I D E N T I A L S U I T E S
A private beach, with its sparkling lagoon and uninter-
rupted views to the horizon, is only matched by perhaps
the largest and best-appointed rooms in the country.
Your own butler will ensure that you feel that this is
your own private island. From the dining room for eight
to the king-sized bedrooms, from the regally decorated
lounge to the spacious verandah, swimming pool and
jacuzzi beyond, nothing has been compromised. This is
the option for the seriously indulgent.
ActivitiesAs befits a five star resort, we have a full selection of sports and leisure
facilities of the highest quality. From floodlit tennis courts to squash and
indoor badminton courts, from wake-boards to catamarans and everything
in between, it’s all there whenever you wish.
Not every treat is on the island. Excursions and fishing trips are firm fa-
vourites but don’t leave for home without experiencing the private desert
island picnic for two. You’ll never forget it

After a rest have a change. When you’ve had your fill on
tanning on the beach, try a little watersports. The soft
shallow lagoon is perfect for learning the art of wind-
surfing. And that’s just one of a whole range of activities
on offer.
WAT E R S P O RT S
This quiet corner of Baa Atoll is teaming with colour-
ful fish of every shape and size. Whether you take one
of our snorkeling trips or dive everyday to the outlying
reefs, the underwater world will never cease to amaze
and delight you. You’ll feel secure in capable hands of
our first class, multi-lingual dive staff. Preparation and
safety are the priorities here, so you can relax and fully
enjoy the experience.

Experience Araamu Spa At the heart of Royal Island is the Araamu Spa. This se-
rene retreat within the resort offers a delectable menu
of treatments to calm the senses, relax the body and
invigorate the spirit. The sounds and scents of nature fill
the air as you give yourself up to some top-class body
pampering.
For the special pleasure of couples each pavilion has
a pair of treatment tables. Our romantic package is a
particular favourite. In other rooms, qualified and expe-
rienced ayurveda therapists work wonders for an array
of ailments, both common and seemingly intractable.
Wine & Dine Expect a fine selection of international cuisines everyday
in the Maakana Restaurant. A delightful coral rock pool
and tropical fish add vibrancy to the setting. To truly
romance your partner there are few better places than
the Raabondhi Restaurant, on the beach and under the
stars. Lobster and barbecues are the specialty here.
The Boli Bar is open throughout the day. An aperitif be-
fore dinner or a long sociable night on the moonlit deck,
the options are yours to choose. If a wild and crazy disco
or karaoke session is your fancy, then the separate Fun
Pub is just the right place.
RomanceThe ultimate romantic gesture, whether newlywed or incurably romantic,
this sensitive and delightful ceremony will deepen your commitment to
each other. Accompanied by traditional drummers in Maldivian livery, the
whole event is a touching spectacle set in a tropical paradise.
