Research is the foundation of allactivities at the University of Agder.Research projects are connected tothe faculties and cover a variety ofdisciplines.
Internationalisation is a focus areaat UiA. The university cooperateswith several universities andcolleges abroad and has signed
agreements with 175 universities inall parts of the world.
Regional cooperation is also adistinguishing feature at UiA andincludes close collaboration with thebusiness community, public sectorand non-government organisations.This way, UiA contributesconsiderably to regional economic,social and cultural development.
New and modern campus facilitiesprovide updated classrooms, ITsystems, computer labs andexcellent library services.
UNIVERSITY OF AGDER
The University of Agder(UiA) is the mostrecently established university in Norway, but itshistory goes back to 1839. UiA is situated on thesouthern tip of Norway with 8,700 students, and1,000 faculty and staff members.

Strong emphasis on research andinternationalisationThe majority of faculty members atthe Faculty of Economics and SocialSciences have full professor/associate professor competence,and the Faculty contributessignificantly to UiA’s list ofpublications, including internationalpublications.
The Faculty’s international profile isreflected in all activities, instruction,student and staff exchange, andresearch cooperation. The Faculty isinvolved in both bilateral andmultilateral exchange programs ofstudents and faculty members atuniversities in all parts of the world.

The overall purpose of theseprogrammes is to give the PhDcandidate a deep and broadtheoretical and methodologicalknowledge, along with theexperience of completing asubstantial piece of originalscientific work (the dissertation).
Information SystemsThe PhD programme in InformationSystems concentrates on research related to the development,implementation, use, andevaluation of informationsystems at different organisationallevels and in both private and publicsectors.

Public AdministrationThe Public Administration PhDprogramme focuses on issuesrelated to public policy andadministration and aims atunderstanding the development andimplication of compositeadministrative systems at differentlevels of government.
The focus is two-folded. First a focuson the multiple governancedynamics embedded in singularadministrative systems, such as theEuropean commission, and regionaland local government. Second afocus on how the publicadministrations of internationalexecutive institutions and regional
