Project Goals and ObjectivesUpper, Middle, Lower Villages
• Advantage Bridgton– Leverage Bridgton’s many attributes to strengthen Bridgton’s identity– Entice passers by and area residents to stop and spend more time downtown– Provide a welcoming streetscape environment
• Support Main Street businesses & stimulate private investment – People, activity, = civic vitality and $$$ – Promote activities, sidewalk sales, café seating
• Improve walkability– Strengthen connections and awareness of notable destinations– Improve access and visibility of natural and historic resources– Studies show that walkable Main Street’s yield business revenue increases of 20%-60%
• Vehicular and pedestrian safety– Calm traffic, improve crosswalks, review traffic patterns, reduce speeds, meet universal accessibility
requirements, promote walking and bicycle use
• Parking– Maximize both on-street and off-street parking opportunities throughout the corridor
