What can I say? This has been a great 4H year; I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. I want to take this opportunity to say Thank you to all members– I am honored to represent you. Thank you to all the Project Leaders, you have put in so much time teaching and sharing with your project members. Thank you to all the parents who
have helped with everything from driving to working on a committee. A special Thank you goes out to Heather Mathews who braved this past year as our Community Leader! Thank you Carrie Jordan for sticking around another year and Thank you Heathyr Knowles for coming back to help! I can’t wait to see what next year brings. Samarra

Join the YLC (Santa Barbara County 4-H's Golden Clover Award Winning Youth Leadership Committee)
The Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) is a part of the Santa Barbara County Program Development
Board. It consists of Teen and Adults who work together as a team toencourage and strengthen SB Coun-
ty Youth Leadership, expose 4-H teens to 4-H opportunities beyond the club and county-level, encourage
their involvement and participation, and structure programming and volunteer training to support youth re-
tention through high school.
Annually, YLC puts on the Countywide Leadership Project- “Hi 4-H”, Weekend Youth Leadership Confer-
ence - “LEaD Conference” (Leadership, Education and Development), assists to put on sessions on a
county, sectional and state level, conducts countywide All Star interviews, and oversee SBC 4-H Emerald
Star Development/Review.
The YLC team are currently accepting applications for the 2014/15 4-H Year. If you would like to be a part
of this amazing team fill out the attached application and submit it prior to the deadline of June 2,
2014 (Interview date and time TBA).
Expectations: Attendance at monthly meetings held monthly in Orcutt. A desire to strengthen your public speak-
ing and organizational planning skills .

Now is the time that Camp Wahoo is accepting applications for campers. Camp will be from July 20th to July 26th. Campers need to be not younger than 9 and not older than 13 by July 20th. Applications can be found online at http://www.sb4h.org/County_4-H_Events/Camp_Wahoo/Camper_Application/. Also scholarships are available from the Four Leaf Clover Foundation at http://www.4lcf.org/PDFs/CampFund.pdf Deadline for camp applications is June 15th, sooner for scholarship applications. NEW DRESS CODESNEW DRESS CODES
1. All FFA, Grange and 4-H exhibitors shall wear the offi-
cial uniform of their organization while showing and sell-
ing their animals in breeding, market, and showmanship
classes. Independent exhibitors shall wear the uniform as
set forth in the Exhibitor Guidebook. Note: if the exhibitor
is showing small stock animals, long sleeve shirts or uni-
form jacket are required, no exposed arms allowed.
2. FFA - not applicable to 4H
3. 4-H -The 4-H show uniform is to be worn by all 4-H exhibitors and by assistants in the group
classes. The uniform shall consist
of white pants, white dress shirt/blouse (long or short sleeve), 4-H tie or collar, 4-H cap worn on
the head, black or brown beltand shoes/boots. NO SLEEVELESS OR COLLARLESS SHIRTS. All
shirts must be tucked in and long enough to remain
tucked in and cover the exhibitor’s body when showing their animal. No bare midriffs allowed.
Pant legs should be worn outside
the boots/shoes. No canvas shoes are allowed, leather boots or shoes are required. Exhibitors
will be excused from the show
ring for failure to follow dress code set forth. No chapter or individual names will be allowed on
white shirts. No additional logos
or adornments may be worn unless already expressly described in this paragraph.

5. Independents- not applicable to 4H
6. Note: White collared polo shirts with sleeve may be substituted for the white dress shirts if
they are tucked in and long enough
to remain tucked in and cover the exhibitor’s body when showing their animal. No bare midriff is

7. Uniforms are to be clean and neat. Exhibitor appearing in dirty uniforms may be excused from
the show ring or sale.
8. Exhibitors who are in violation of the dress code may be excused from the ring by the judge,
clerk, barn steward, or livestock
superintendent only. The class will continue and not be delayed for the excused exhibitor
