PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEDECEMBER 2016
As another year approaches its end at TPT, we like to reflect on our blessings and accomplishments. One recent achievement has me feeling particularly thankful.
As you may have heard, in late October, TPT and our staff were recognized for Emmy® excellence with 18 wins in 15 categories: 11 programmatic categories and four individual creative achievements. In TPT’s nearly 60-year history, this is a record number of Emmy® wins.
Year in and year out, we strive to create the most powerful, compelling, and artistic television in Minnesota. As a testament to that endeavor — and to our fierce commitment to rich storytelling — we are humbled to be honored by our television peers around the nation and in the Midwest with our Upper Regional Midwest Emmys®, which is one important way that we know our hard work is paying off.
Though we feel honored to be acknowledged for the work we do, we are also proud to share those accolades with our non-profit producing partners that otherwise would not be recognized in this way. This year, two partners’ productions were honored with Emmys®: Make Money Work, produced with funding from the Wells Fargo Foundation, and Winter Bees: Beyond the Book, produced with Friends of the St. Paul Public Library.
Additionally, I’d like to thank you for your support of TPT, which allows us to produce some of the highest quality television programming in the state, and to attract and retain top-notch talent, who are outstanding contributors to local media and television. Public television is truly a community effort, and we could not do what we do or achieve what we have achieved without your support.
As you know, there are many unique ways to support TPT. This year, as you review your year-end finances, a gift of appreciated stock is one especially easy and impactful way to continue your support of local public television.
Thank you and have a wonderful new year.
