from the desk of...Rich Armstrong and Kendra Ray As a wise person once said, “It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun.” This first semester has indeed been filled with a lot of fun, as well as a lot hard work. Many factors con-tribute to our success, but the single most important aspect is tried and true, unfailing hard work. From an amazing marching season to outstanding region results, the Waxahachie band has achieved greatness in so many ways, and we must thank everyone for their role in these successes. Thank you to the WISD band staff for your belief that all of our students can achieve excellence. Your dedication is unparalleled and evident in the hours devoted to teach-ing. Thank you for inspiring and motivating our students. Thank you to all of the parents, boosters, and supporters for the hours of time you devote to our students. You work tirelessly to ensure that our kids have the very best, and “quit” is simply not in your vocabulary. We are treated like royalty and we thank you for believing in us. Thank you to the private instructors for your unswerving dedication to the art of instrumental teaching. Our students sound like professionals. Finally, thank you to the students for your determination, dedication, and drive to be the best. You have learned to work harder each day, and your success will grow because of that. Thank you for continuing to strive for excellence.

Greetings from the Finley Band Hall!
The 2012 Holiday Concert was a huge success for all of our bands this year! We’d like to thank the parents for their continued support at home because your students can’t be successful without you.
When we return we will be changing our 7th and 8th grade sectional schedule over to an individual listening schedule to better help every student address their individual needs. Your child will need to select a 15 minute time slot that fits into their schedule best because attendance every week will be required. Sign-ups for those times will take place the week we return from the break, and the listening will begin on January 13.
Our students were very successful this year at All-Region and we’re extremely proud of all of them!
If you have any questions, would like to volunteer to help out, or have some concerns, please email one of the Finley Band Directors.
