Your Website – ACustomer ServiceProfessional
“What about the website?”is a question I hear often.Whether you’re building anew website or just updat-ing an existing one, know-ing the correct informationwill save you time andmoney. Here are some keycomponents that willincrease your website’seffectiveness.
Home Page – For most cus-tomers the home page willbe the first contact theyhave with your company.Your home page shouldgive them great customerservice by welcoming, directing and answeringpotential questions. Don’tforget to include the basicslike the business name, motto, logo and contactinformation in a formatthat is visually appealingand easy to navigate.
Overview of your prod-ucts/services – It soundssimple,“What do you do?”Show your product/servicein action and define thebenefits that your cus-tomers will receive fromtheir transaction with yourbusiness.
Who’s involved – Photos, bios and backgrounds notonly personalize your com-pany, they let you establishcredibility with your cus-tomers by sharing qualifi-
cations and experience.
Where to find your busi-ness – Contact informationisn’t just an address andphone number. Include aninteractive map, links tosocial media pages, emailaddresses and a sign-upfor online newsletters andspecials.
Additional website compo-nents that should be seri-ously considered includebusiness history, a FAQ’spage, videos, and customertestimonials. Cover thesebases and you’re well onthe way to making yourwebsite a valuable mem-ber of your customer serv-ice team.

Military UpdateAugust 2012 Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce Little Apple® Business Review Page 11
As summer draws to a close, the MRC looks back on a season filled with amazing mili-tary appreciative and inclusive events that have encouraged our military families toexplore and enjoy Manhattan and all that it has to offer. As fall approaches, we moveto a national stage to have our voices heard in support of our soldiers, their familiesand their needs.
July 26 saw the 5th Annual Kaw Valley Rodeo Military Family Appreciation Night exe-cuted beautifully to a packed house of military families. We distributed over 1,500 freetickets and fed over 300 people at our free pre-rodeo barbeque, graciously hosted byour Blue Ribbon Sponsors: Dick Edwards Ford and McAllister’s Deli along with ourother amazing Community Sponsors: Pepsi of Manhattan,Hi-Tech Interiors, Inc.,Manhattan Regional Airport, Cox Communications,The Association of the UnitedStates Army and the Kaw Valley Rodeo Association. These sponsors made this annual,highly-anticipated and much-enjoyed event possible and we cannot thank themenough for their kindness and generosity!
Looking forward to October, we are in the planning stages of our annual AUSA (TheAssociation of the United States Army) trip to Washington D.C. for their annual meet-ing. This invaluable meeting gives insight and understanding of national soldier issues, family issues and ways to support our military community in an even more impactfulmanner. AUSA is the professional association for soldiers and we look forward to theopportunity to make their advocacy louder and stronger.
