1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Scope
The scope of this document is divided into 2 sections which are:
SECTION A : STAND-ALONE TEST
This section of the document describes the method used for acceptance testing a 1678MCC
after it has been installed on site.
The purpose of this test period is not to test the full functionality of the product or to reproduce
all of the tests performed in the factory acceptance test phase. The specific objectives of the
Stand Alone Test are as follows:
To verify that all required parts have been delivered (inventory check).
To verify that the installation of the product has been performed correctly.
To verify the functional integrity of the equipment following shipment and installation.
SECTION B : SEGMENT TEST
This section of the document describes the method used for Network Acceptance Test of
1678MCC after Stand-Alone-Test has been performed and all station is supervised.
The purpose of this test period is not to test the full functionality of the product or to reproduce
all of the tests performed in the factory acceptance test phase. The specific objectives of the
Segment Test are as follows:
Check the protection provided by the equipment (transmission and synchronization).
Check, over a 24 hours period (overnight), the error on the links chosen initially to evaluatetransmission quality on the network of the main and 24 hour for spare (protection path).
1.2 Reminder of Safe Working Practices
Observe anti-static precautions.
Ensure that the optical power has been turned off before viewing or inspecting any
optical material.
All optical fiber connectors must be treated with the utmost care and a very high
standard of cleanliness maintained as soon as an optical connector is disconnected, the
free ends must be protected with dust caps.
Before reconnection, all optical connectors must be inspected and cleaned ifnecessary.
1.3 Data Recording
Alcatel (Supplier) and CUSTOMER (Purchaser) representative should sign each test described
on one or more data sheets. In the case of a failed test, a Customer Incident Report have to be
filled in, giving details about the problem encountered as well as the test title and the testing

conditions (software release, test equipment used...). At the end of the test period, the Test
Result Sheet, a summary of all tests covered by this procedure, will be filled in by the Supplier
representative and signed off by both parties.
1.4 Special care*Special cares to be taken when plugging boards in 1678MCC Subrack, in order not damage
back-panel connectors!
1- Before inserting the boards open the blocking levers
2- Insert the boards inside the guide without acting on the blocking levers. Push softly the front plate
until the mating of board and shelf connector.
3- Complete the insertion by locking the blocking levers

3. PRE-REQUISITES
3.1 Reference As referenced within the procedure, the test results sheets in APPENDIX B
Site Installation and Configuration Handbook. 1678MCC Factory Acceptance Test Procedure and Results
3.2 Status of NE The equipment (or network element, NE) must be compliant with the basic configuration in
the site installation handbook.
The tests are to be conducted directly on the equipment ports if DDF is not available or if itcan not be done on DDF.

4.SECTION A : STAND-ALONE TEST
4.1 VISUAL INSTALLATION / CABLING INSPECTION
Purpose
The purpose is to verify that the Installation and the Cabling are done in accordance with the
Site Installation Handbook.
Test equipment

Procedure1. Check that the equipment is installed in accordance with the Site Installation Handbook:
Positioning of rows and racks (labeling),
Positioning of equipment in the rack,
Layout within the equipment rack and Subrack.2. Check the inventory of the installed equipment with the Site Installation Handbook.
Quantity and type of cards / modules provided,
Type (impedance) and cabling of external synchronization ports, if appropriate,
Connection of the LAN port of both FLCS and FLCC board to a router if theequipment is used as a GNE.
3. Inspect the quality of installation of all external connections:
Installation of the optical fibers, their positioning (adequate bending radius, 4 cm atleast) and labeling.
Installation of the electrical cables including earth bonding.
Installation of anti-static wrist strap bonding point on each rack and availability ofwrist straps.
4. Check the connection of the NGTRU to the equipment:
Connections of power supply from rectifier to A and B of NGTRU
Connections of power supply connector on the PSF boards in slots 24 and slot 25 tothe NGTRU.
Connection of the 9-way connector on the FLCC board in slot 20 to the NGTRU.
5. Check the mechanical installation of the equipment. For the stations where seismic bracing is required check that seismic bracing has
been installed in accordance with the Station Installation Handbook.
Check that racks are securely anchored and that the Subrack is securely mountedwithin the racks with all required bolts in place.
6. Perform a visual Inspection of the equipment and cards.
Check that equipment does not have any signs of mechanical damage.
Inspect carefully the back-panel connectors for all the slots and ensure that there areno broken or bent pins on the back-panel.
Inspect all card connectors to ensure they are not damaged or likely to causedamage to back-panel when inserted.

Procedure
1. From the craft terminal, display in turn the SR78M (Main Shelf) views of the equipmentSubrack.
2. Check that:
The identity of the boards is correctly reported on the craft terminal in theircorresponding slots. Specifically check to ensure the absence of the following alarms
for each Subrack slot in the SR78M :
RUTM(Replaceable Unit Type Mismatch),
RUM(Replaceable Unit Missing)
RUP(Replaceable Unit Problem)
NOTE: Alarms other than the above may appear. Clicking the corresponding
slot in the SR78M views can dispel any ambiguity; the icons of the above
alarms will then become visible at the bottom of the resulting view. They
should be colored green.
That the identity of the SDH port modules is correctly reported on the craft terminal. Thecorrect correspondence can be determined by the absence of any of the above alarms,
which can be verified from the green color of the respective icons in the respective
interface displays (view IS11 - r01s01sl3/daughter#1for a STM1 port module for
example).
In the case of an alarm, the origin of the fault (installation in the NE or craft terminalconfiguration) can be determined by comparing the part numbers of the boards declared
and displayed the craft terminal with the information obtained from the remote inventory.
4.3.3 Equipment Configuration
Purpose
Verify the equipment configuration of the 1678MCC, compared to the Site Configuration
Handbook, and tests requirement.

Run the 1320CT application and the from the menu bar of EML-USMview verify that the
parameters are configured as follows:
Subrack Configuration (open the equipment view and check thatsubrack configuration is in conformity with the Site Installation &
Configuration Handbook.
Write down serial number in column given.
Test paths are configuredin accordance with the test requirements forexample: SNCP Protection.

4.4 OPTICAL PORT LOCAL TESTS
4.4.1 Laser Safety / Optical Output Power
Purpose
To check laser safety and to measure optical output power.
Test equipment
SDH Analyzer with the required SDH optical interfaces equipped for the ports under test
Optical power meter
1 Variable optical attenuator
Optical fiber FC/PC patch cords
Equipment Craft Terminal
Procedure
Establish the test configuration shown inFigure 1.
1. Enable ALS on the optical port under test and loop the optical port under test, using avariable attenuator if required.
2. Using the ECT, ensure that no LOS alarm exist and ALS Current State is Inactive3. Disconnect the transmit fiber from the receive port of the optical interface (or variable
attenuator if applicable) .
4. Using the ECT, confirm on the SDH port view that a LOS alarm is generated on the receive
port under test and that ALS Current State is active.5. Using the ECT, force the laser ON by selecting the "Laser Forced ON" option6. Measure optical output power on the power meter and records the results. Check results
with Appendix F.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the power meter is set to the correct wavelength for the port under
test.
7. Using the ECT, force laser OFF by selecting the "Laser Forced OFF" option.8. Ensure that the laser turns OFF and that no power is measured on the power meter.9. Re-connect the transmit fiber and confirm that the LOS alarm remains on the optical port
and that ALS Current State is Inactive.
10.Perform the checking to all optical port and at the end of the test, ensure the configurationon the ports by setting ALS Enable.

4.4.2 OPTICAL RECEIVER SENSITIVITY
Purpose
To verify the received optical sensitivity of STM-64 unit, tributary optical units and pre-amplifiers complies with the equipment specification.

Procedure

1.Establish the test configuration shown in Figure 62.Perform the tests for all optical ports by creating AU_4 cross-connection for each port.3.Configure software loopback (matrix looped) or physical loop asfigure 2.4.Connect analyzer output to input of optical attenuator then to Rx of STM-N port.5.Connect the output STM-N port back to SDH analyzer then check for error freetransmission.
6.Increase the attenuation until errors are indicated on analyzer and decrease attenuation for 1dBm where the error is clear.
7.Measure the output from optical attenuator ( STM-N port Rx Side)8.Check, if sensitivity is in specific range by referring to Appendix F. If not, please check thetest setup, clean optical output on board or ODF, exchange board or optical module.
9.Record the result and continue with each port in sequence10.For STM 64, follow the configuration as Figure 2with no software loopback and pump-in the
signal from port on others STM-N trib.

11.Perform the sensitivity test by increase and decrease the optical attenuator and monitor fromanalyzer the record the measurement of final receive power.
4.5 EPS PROTECTION OF THE HO MATRIX (MXXXX) BOARD
Purpose
To test the EPS protection functionality / performance of the HOMATRIX (MX160/320/640)
board in slot 10 protected by the HOMATRIX in slot 11.
Test equipment
SDH Analyzer
Equipment Craft Terminal
Procedure
1. Establish the test configuration shown in Figure 2 (no attenuation required for STM64ports).
2. Ensure that the test paths are configured.3. Configure the SDH Analyzer to transmit and monitor a VC-4 bulk payload within an STM-
1 / STM-16 / STM-64 using a 2E23-1 PRBS signal and ensure error free operation.
4. Press the reset button on protected MX160 board (slot 10). Wait for 20min for the SpareMX160 board to become active. Check the status of the MX160 in slot 11 is the following
(through its respective icon):
"EPS Protection Status Active", visible in the EML-USM views of this board.
5. At the end of the switchover period, check : That not more than 2ES, 2SES and 2AIS was registered on the SDH Analyzer.
The test path is error free after the switchover.6. Remove the protected MX160 (slot 10).
RUM (Replaceable Unit Missing) alarm occurred on ECT for the MX160 in slot 107. Replace the MX160 board in slot 10 (only after the transitional period). Wait for several
minutes for the board to initialize. Check:
That the status of the MX160 board in slot 10 is the following (through itsrespective icon): "EPS Protection Status Standby" visible in the EML-USM views
of this board.
That traffic is error free during and after replacement of MX160 board in slot 10.8. Press the reset button on the spare MX160 board (slot 11). Wait for 20 min for the MainMX160 board to become active. Check the status of MX160 board in slot 10 is the
following (through its respective icon):
"EPS Protection Status Active", visible in the EML-USM views of this board.9. At the end of the switchover period, check:
That not more than 2ES, 2SES and 2AIS was registered on the SDH Analyzerfollowing the switchover.
The test path is error free after the switchover.10.Remove the spare MX160 (slot 11).

11.Replace the MX160 board in slot 11 (only after the transitional period). Wait for severalminutes for the board to initialize.
4.6 FLC REDUNDANCY CHECK
Purpose
To test the FLC redundancy of the FLCCongi and FLCService board.
Test equipment
SDH Analyzer
Equipment Craft Terminal
Procedure
1. Establish the test configuration shown in Figure 2.2. Ensure that the test paths are configured.3. Configure the SDH Analyzer to transmit and monitor a VC-4 bulk payload within an STM-
1 / STM-16 / STM-64 using a 2E23-1 PRBS signal and ensure error free operation.
4. Perform a software switch command
Verify the active FLC
Select equipmentprovisioning menu.
Select theEdit -> FLC EPS switch.
5. Verify that the test path is error free when the switching activity taken place.6. Wait a while after switch, until the FLC are synchronized again and verify that the active
PLC become standby and vice versa.
7. Record the result.
4.7 PROTECTION OF THE PSF BOARD (IF APPLICABLE)Purpose
Verify that the EPS protection of the PSF board in slot 24 by the PSF board in slot 25 is not
traffic affecting.
To verify that PSF boards have been connected to the correct circuit breakers.

4. Switch off Battery. A (for PSF slot 24) circuit breaker.
Check that no errors are registered on the analyzer. Alarms on ECT are recorded correctly.
5. Switch on Battery. A circuit breaker.
Check that no errors occurred on the analyzer.
Alarms cleared on ECT or alarm list.6. Switch off Battery. B (for PSF slot 25) circuit breaker.
Check that no errors occurred on the analyzer.
Alarms on ECT are recorded correctly.7. Switch on Battery. B circuit breaker.
Check that no errors occurred on the analyzer.
Alarms cleared on ECT or alarm list.8. Record the results.
4.8 MSP PROTECTION functionality
Purpose
To verify the functionality of the MSP 1+1 Standard protection mode when apply to STM-N
Optical or Electrical tributary.

Procedure
1. Setup the test circuit as shown infigure 2but using only STM-N tributary unit which arelower than STM-64 for the whole testing.
2. Setup the SDH Analyser to one of STM-N port (as drop) and loop-back first STM-N port(as Protected Path) and second STM-N port on the same or different board (as Protecting
Path).

with a date and time stamp.
5. In the Diagnosis pulldown menu, select the Log Browsing option -> Alarm Log. Clear allthe alarms in the Alarm Log.6. Start (run) the BER stability test by pressing start button.7. At the end of the stability period, examine the NE PM registers, via the ECT, and confirm
that no spurious performance parameter counts have been recorded. Confirm that no errors
have been detected by the Test sets. Examine the alarm logs via the ECT and confirm that
no unexpected alarms (such as RUP alarm for example) were raised.
8. After the test, remove all the PM from the equipment.9. Repeat the test for all equipped optical and electrical ports and record the results.
