INTEGRATION INTO MICROSOFT
DYNAMICS CRM
Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) FATCA AND MICROSOFT DYNAMICS CRM
The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is a United States federal law that requires United States persons, including individuals who live outside the United States, to report their financial accounts held outside of the United States, and requires Foreign Financial Insti-tutions (FFIs) to report to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) about their U.S. clients. FATCA is designed to compel Foreign Financial In-stitutions to disclose details such as balances, receipts and withdrawals about certain “Financial Accounts” held by their U.S. clients, and as such having a 360 degree view of these clients is crucial.
While compliance is mandatory, the compelling business purpose and opportunity FATCA signifies is to acquire and grow your customer re-lationships. As FATCA is a customer compliance objective, managing customer compliance outside of your Customer Relationship Manage-ment system is a recipe for redundancies, manual processes, fragment-ed systems and increased IT cost.
Though there is no real consensus on how financial service providers
or FFI’s are responding to the FATCA challenge, the key here is to rec-
ognize that implementing yet another application will introduce more
IT effort and management oversight. A more strategic option of man-
aging FATCA compliance is via the Arcos FATCA compliance solution
based on Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
It is apparent that FATCA has a significant impact upon many of the
key business processes encountered through the lifecycle of a client
relationship including:
Product definition
Client on-boarding
Continued client due diligence
Payments
Regulatory reporting and account closure.
The extent of the “look-through” required into the ownership interest,
and the exemption thresholds bring with them new challenges of inte-
grating Know Your Customer (KYC) processes with financial reporting
systems.
