• Apprenticeships Melbourne provides a single point of contact for the administration, sign up and payment arrangements for employers and Australian Apprentices
• We work collaboratively with Industry/ Associations to provide a strategic and consistent approach for all administrative and contractual requirements.

Role of the State Training Authority
.
• Regulate Australian Apprentices/Trainees
• Advise Australian Employers and Apprentices on their rights and obligations
• Monitor quality of training and regulate Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)

Role of the Registered Training Organisation
.
• Employers have the right to select an RTO of their choice
• Help employers train their Australian Apprentice/Trainees
• Assist in developing an appropriate training plan for employers and their Australian Apprentices/Trainees
• Conduct Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), deliver training and issue qualifications at the completion of the Australian Apprenticeships/Traineeship

Australian Apprentice/Trainee Responsibilities

• The Australian Apprentice/Trainee will attend work and perform their job role
• They will work towards achieving a qualification by undertaking training and assessment as part of their training plan

Australian Government Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for incentives depends on a number of factors:
1. Type of employment - Employees must be employed on a full-time or part-time basis and work a minimum of 13hrs per week (casuals do not qualify)
2. Whether employees are new (employed less than 3 months full-time or 12 months part-time)
3. Whether employees are existing (employed more than 3 months full-time or 12 months part-time)
4. Prior qualifications (type of qualification and year completed can effect eligibility)
5. Permanent residency status
