This level provides security and protection

The need to feel loved and to belong to a family type unit.

Level Three: Love and Belongingness

The need to feel pride in one’s self.

Level Four: Self Esteem

The final level of Maslow’s hierarchy in which a person reaches their highest level of potential without expecting a reward for their efforts.

Level Five: Self Actualization

Now that you understand Maslow’s hierarchy:

Why does it pertain to Hitler and WWII?

Short answer is…At the end of 1929, Germany was in an economic depression. Many basic needs (Level One on Maslow’s) were not even being met. Hitler capitalized on this, promising prosperity and a Germany unlike anything the people had ever seen.

Using the first 4 levels of Maslow’s and the movie we have watched:

1. For each level of Maslow’s, write a paragraph explaining how Hitler met these needs for the German people.

Remember to use specific examples from our movie.

Example: Level One is physiological needs. Hitler met this need by eradicating unemployment in Germany.
