our residents and staff to bring in aphotograph from one of the dances at theirhigh school and have a challenge of “GuessWho?” We will make a color copy of the photoand then return the original to you. Love Is Ageless Valentine’s Day DanceBring out your dancing shoes and the love in your
heart for music and those you love. On Friday,Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., we will be having asemi-formal cocktail party and dance withrefreshments, spirits and entertainment by GarvinFreeman. Please plan on joining us for this specialevent and RSVP to Elizabeth.
“Change From the Heart”During the month of February, the American House
Foundation hosts an annual campaign in which smallmonetary donations from community centers,schools, and our own buildings are collected in jars.When you stop by our building when you visit yourfamily or friend, please drop off your loose change inthe Change from the Heart Jar, because just a littlecan go a long way. Trip to Charles H. WrightMuseum of AfricanAmerican History
On February 16, we will betaking a trip down to themuseum to see over 35,000artifacts and archival materialsthat is the home to the HarrietTubman Museum collection andmany others. The museumfeatures an interactive coreexhibit, ring of genealogy, 92flags displayed by country andorigin, and others. The cost is $4for seniors and $7 for adults andwe will be having a scheduledtour at the museum. There will besome walking, so be preparedand wear comfortable shoes.After we are done at themuseum, we will be going out tolunch. If interested, please seeElizabeth.

most people, especially at Valentine’sDay. Here are some interesting factsabout chocolate:
• Chocolate is a great source ofantioxidants, which have beenshown to reduce a person’s riskof developing cancer and heartdisease.
• Snickers is the No. 1 sellingchocolate bar in the world.
• Eating dark chocolate inmoderation can lower a person’scholesterol levels.
• Americans prefer milk chocolateover dark chocolate; however,the consumption of darkchocolate is increasing. Try toeat dark chocolate containing atleast 40 percent cacao (will bestated on the chocolate candywrapper) for the most healthbenefits.
• The first United States chocolatefactory was built in 1765.
• Chocolate can be deadlyto dogs.
• The average American eats 12pounds of chocolate every year.
• Once chocolate is made, it canbe kept for one year.
• One tablespoon of cocoa powdercontains 10 percent of the dailyrequirement for iron intake.
• The first chocolate candy barwas made in 1842.
• Chocolate is made from cacaobeans. However, the cacao beanis actually a seed.
• Cacao beans were so valuable atone time in Mexico that theywere used for currency.
Chocolate can offer some healthbenefits, but it should be eaten inmoderation because of the caloriesassociated with the fat and sugarcontent.
