About the Foundation
• Incorporated 1997 from ARMA Scholarship Fund
• 501 (c) (3) – non-Profit

Mission / Endowment
• Mission- Provide Funding for Research & Education– Funding available to:
• Support research addressing critical issues in records and information management
• Provide education development grants to enhance knowledge, skills, & abilities of practitioners in the field
• Foster educational initiatives that develop records and information management skills & programs

Funding the Endowment• ARMA International
– Yearly contribution to endowment (end 2004)– (+ supporting administrative costs)
• ARMA Leadership– Personal commitments
• ARMA Members– Where are you? So far, not a significant
membership base is supporting the endowment
• Other RIM Professionals– So far small numbers, but important amounts
Funding the Endowment
• Pass-Through Grants – Specified funds for designated projects
from chapters, vendors & others
• Independent Grant Application– The Foundation itself applies for grants
to achieve its mission
Types of Giving
• Individual Contributions– Pledges
• 5/100 or other pledge (certainly, larger contributions are welcome)
– Employer Matching Gifts (this is a hidden opportunity, in some cases, for contributors to effectively double their contribution)

– Memorial/Honorarium Giving• In honor of someone• In memory of someone
– Estate Planning• Beneficiary of insurance• Lump sum estate donation• Transfer of investment

• Vendor Partner Contributions– There are a variety of giving
opportunities that vendors are just now looking at
• Five year Commitments• Percent of Sales• Combination Plans
Types of Giving• Special Giving – Chapters &/or Regions
– Speaker recognition gift (Honorarium) • “A contribution to the AIEF Endowment has been made
in your name”
– Special service gift (Honorarium)• In addition to or in place of plaques at the end of service
terms, make a contribution to the Foundation endowment in award winner’s name(s)
– Chapter/Region scholarship fund• For whatever reason, if no one wins your
chapter/region’s yearly scholarship, contribute it to the Foundation endowment
Types of Giving• Special Giving – Chapters &/or
Regions– 50/50 Monthly meeting drawings
• Donate the 50% to the Foundation endowment
– Chapter/Region Seminar Profits• Donate a % to the Foundation endowment• Offer vendor sponsorship monies as a
Foundation contribution option
– Memorial Giving• Start a memorial fund and recognition page
on the Foundation website for Chapter members as a tribute to their contributions to your chapter and the profession

proceeds to the Foundation endowment• Silent auction• Raffles• Casino night• Craft fair• Social event where a contribution is included in the
cost of the event
