Doris Wallis has everything a tabloid gossip columnist could want: a toy boy with a regular supply of Columbian gear; a pretty PA who might come to share her libidinous preferences: and the prospect of a TV show all of her own. What could possibly go wrong?
“...crude, clever and killingly funny,a cracker of a play”
Elton'sElton's brilliant observational skills and wicked sense of humour come to the fore in this deliciously black revenge comedy. Silly Cow is one of those rare farces where you nd yourself wincing even as you laugh.
BenBen Elton is a London-born comedian, author, playwright and director. He was a leading gure in British alternative comedy and political satire in the 1980s and wrote on cult T.V. comedys such as e Young Ones and Blackadder.
“I must say this business of taking the press to court is becoming rather worrisome. Where will it end? It's going to make for some very dull breakfast reading if everything we write
has to be true.”

REVIEW 2009 / 2010
“... a wonderful and exemplary occasion with local talent working their socks off to achieve a standard of performance that can’t always be taken for granted in professional theatre.
A triumph for all concerned.”
Michael Nunn (January 2010) The Visitor
Modern Dance for Beginnersby Sarah Phelps
“... I was astonished. The cast and crew of Modern Dance for “... I was astonished. The cast and crew of Modern Dance for Beginners were all students at the University of Cumbria, and the production and performances were as slick as anything done by professionals, but more amazingly it had balls unlike
a lot of British theatre productions I have seen.”
Jomar de Vrind (January 2010) The Lunecy Review
Attempts On Her Life (Seventeen Scenarios for the Theatre)
by Martin Crimp
“... an excellent performance, the audience left the theatre “... an excellent performance, the audience left the theatre exhilarated, not least by the excellent, disciplined way in which the students rose to the very high and varied
theatrical demands that the play makes.”
Michael Nunn (November 2009) The Visitor
REVIEW 2009 / 2010
Goethe's Faust (Part 1.)by John Clifford
“Student drama is an exciting and valuable part of Lancaster's cultural scene, and this production yet again confirms the sterling abilities and richness of live theatre at the
University of Cumbria.”
Michael Nunn (March 2010) The Lancashire Evening Post
Whale Musicby Anthony Minghella
“... a fine, measured performance that was in turn tender, brutal, poignant and at times extremely moving... I don’t think any of us could fault this production, which was a credit to both the students and staff at the
University of Cumbria.”University of Cumbria.”
