2018-2019 Technical Committee
Achievements
• Concrete Coating Systems (CCS)• Concrete Sealers have been added to the Concrete
Coatings Program• Sign Sheeting Materials (SSM)
• Highest number of submittals this year since 2000. This year was 79 samples
• Worked with a new MFGR with a new sign fabrication technology (application of sheeting layers directly to the aluminum substrate) Seven samples were submitted
• Asphalt Release Agents (ARA)• AASHTO T 383: Standard Method of Test for Evaluation of
Asphalt Release Agents (ARAs) was published and released in June 2018 in the AASHTO Materials Book
• 25 products were submitted and evaluated this past year, which is much more than previous years
• High Friction Thin Overlays (HFTO)• West Virginia Department of Highways will host 2019
NTPEP HFTO Test Deck• Submission cycle will open in July• Test deck will be installed this Fall
• Detectable Warning Systems (DWS)• Implemented workplan, selected NTPEP designated test
lab, and developed the DataMine module• Testing is expected to begin this summer
• Portland and Blended Cement (PBC)• Became a Technical Committee. Their work plan is
published on the NTPEP website, www.NTPEP.org

• AASHT0 2018 Spring Meeting: Resolution passed to have APEL be part of NTPEP
