MASON, I. L.: A world dictionary of livestock breeds, types and varieties. 4th edition.CAB International; Wallingford, 1996. ISBN 0 85199 102 4.

The volume contains short and precise information on location, appearance and morphology, per-formance and probable history of several thousands of breeds and varieties of livestock, existence ofbreed societies and genetic contribution to other breeds. Compared to previous editions entries ofbreeds and varieties have increased by several thousand and previously less considered countries, suchas China are now fully included.

The interest in domestic animal diversity has greatly increased in recent years. Therefore animalscientists will very much welcome the updated version of this very successful publication.
