The newcomer to the field, WinWinD, has created a WWD wind turbine, which offers the most cost-effective production throughout its total life, combined with the lowest operating costs.
A Cost-effective Wind Turbine for the Present and Future
4
History of WinWinD
1998-99 The development of the new wind turbine concept started together with ABB (Finland) and Metso Drives
2000 The company WinWinD was founded
2001 Pilot plant (1 MW) was taken into use
2002 Industrial production started
2002-03 Multi-megawatt turbine development and a pilot plant (3 MW).

Case: Oulu Energy
1 MW wind turbine, WWD-1
Operational in Oulu, Finland. Since autumn 2001.
Excellent results have been achieved.

Grid-friendly Electricity
Constant output above rated wind speed
Low fluctuations, even with partial power
Suitable for a weak grid
Operational also in a stand-alone mode
Electricity production is controlled by an IGBT AC inverter.
10
Cost-effective MaintenanceMinimised production stops
Maintenance friendly concept
fast on-site maintenance
exceptional long maintenance cycle of the components
Unique factory test of the power unit
RESULT:
Reliable wind turbine, high availability

Partnership Network
ABB (Finland), Metso (Finland) and others.
Well known component suppliers form the framework of our networked operations.
Continuous technology development investments in co-operation with our partnership network ensure that we retain the lead in this technology field.
Our aim is to have the highest local content possible.

Multi-megawatt Wind Turbine
WinWinD is developing wind turbines with greater output: 2,5–3 MW
2,5 MW for onshore/inland and 3,0 MW for offshore.
Slow rotation principles will be used.
Pilot starts late 2003.
