The high-pressure pump HDP is a maincomponent of the face supply systemand is designed for providing the hydrau-lic equipment parts in the longwall facewith pressure fluid. It is a three-cylinderplunger pump of compact design. Thespecial advantage offered by this pump isthe unique high-pressure plunger sealingaction which reduces friction losses andwear to a minimum. This ensures a longlife at highest pressures.
The hydraulic fluid is drawn from the tankconnected to the pump and first broughtto a higher pressure level via the boosterpump. Afterwards, the fluid is routed overa filter before it is fed to the high-pressurepump. An Ex-protected three-phase cur-rent motor drives the high-pressure pumpvia the crank drive. The high pressure isthen generated in the pump and the fluidis supplied to the face.
Due to the functional design the high-grade steel pump head is not subjectedto cyclic stresses and is therefore almostfree of fatigue failures. The bearings arelubricated via oil ducts in the crank shaft,the piston bolts are lubricated via oilducts in the connecting rod.
An recirculating oil lubrication systemwhich mainly consists of an oil pump, anoil cooler – oil filter combination and theoil pressure gauges supplies all bearingand sliding points with filtered oil.
The high-pressure pump is protected allaround by a frame with protective cover.Skid-shaped bottom carriers ensure thatthe pump unit can be transported easily.
The simple design and the good accessi-bility to the pressure valves facilitate main-tenance work. A pump circulation controlswitches the high-pressure pump to non-pressure circulation as soon as the vo-lume flow is no longer required in thecircuit. The fluid is routed to the tank. Assoon as pressure fluid is required againthe high-pressure pump is switched backto delivery.
