A) An Indian Buddhist who took the Zen method to Chan. Founder and first patriarch Slide 2 B) Established a sect based on the Tendai school of Mahayana. Slide 11 K) According to legend a Bhikkhu who, handing the Buddha a flower, asked the enlightened one to preach the Dharma. Whereupon the Buddha gazed upon a flower in silence. Silent communication may be the original Zen transmission Slide 12 L) Sixth and last patriarch of Zen/Chan. Founded the Southern School of sudden enlightenment.
