• LIBRARY STRATEGY
New Bodleian and Giles Gilbert-Scott
The New Bodleian was designed for a different world:
The University of Oxford was smaller and less research-intensive
Researchers operated in different ways
The general public had a different view of ‘the heritage’.
![Page 7: 2010 music faculty presentation](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070321/558dfd2a1a28abb50d8b45e0/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Giles Gilbert-Scott
![Page 8: 2010 music faculty presentation](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070321/558dfd2a1a28abb50d8b45e0/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Broad Street – as existing
![Page 9: 2010 music faculty presentation](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070321/558dfd2a1a28abb50d8b45e0/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Perception – Public identity
What do we want the New Bodleian to say?
Seat of learning & academia
Sought after destination for academics
Reservoir of accumulated knowledge
Public not excluded
Gravitas versus accessibility
![Page 10: 2010 music faculty presentation](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022070321/558dfd2a1a28abb50d8b45e0/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
