Sarah Webb 12-01-10 Teacher Cadet

Today was my thirteenth day as a teacher cadet. Most of today was fairly normal and

was a normal routine. There were a lot of people missing at the beginning of class but they all

ended up coming it, just a little bit late. I think that we have only had one or two days since ive

been there that not everyone was there. And even then there was only maybe one or two of

the students missing from the class. I got to go over morning work with them again this

morning. Unfortunately I was not prepared for this and whenever I got up there I had to quickly

do the problems in my head before I read them out for the students. On one of the math

problems I didn’t read all the way through it and did the entire problem wrong for the children.

I didn’t realize what I had done until after I had finished and realized that the answer I got was

not even one of the four choices that were listed below. The problem was a trick question and

almost all of the students had gotten it right. They continued to remind me for the rest of the

day that I had made a mistake on a problem that they had all gotten correct. I got to do one

new thing today though. Whenever the students got back from their activity I got to brainstorm

some more winter words with them for another writing that they were going to be doing after I

left to also put out on the bulletin board, outside of the classroom. This was fun because they

were able to come up with words that I never would have been able to come up with. They are

a very creative group of students and I am very glad that I am getting to spend this time with

them. The most productive thing that I got to do today was learn how to use the laminator

machine. Miss Robbins needed a lot of papers laminated so she went ahead and took me to

where it was while I was there so I could learn how to use it just in case she ever needed me to

come back up there and do it for her another day or time. It was pretty easy to learn. I spent

the rest of their activity time cutting out these laminated papers.
