PUBLICTOILET

Should the preschool successfully relocateto another site, a design should be preparedby a suitably experienced person for arenovation (and possibly small extension)of the existing Community Hall to maximiseits suitability for film and live performance,as well as small conferences.

Call for expressions of interest for use of redundant Post Office building

Make changes to the road alignment and install parallel parking on both sides of Ned’s Beach Road, initially by using line marking only, but later, as resources allow, through changes to kerbing and landscaping to formalise the arrangement. Eventually, depending on resources, part, or whole of this section of Ned’s Beach Road could be paved to make sure vehicles travel really slowly to maximise pedestrian safety. Undertake a voluntary campaign with local business operators to ensure staff and other long day parking does not occur on Ned’s Beach Road but rather at alternate nearby locations. There is no need at this time to formalise these other locations.

Install some interpretation on the site that talks about the old powerhouse and the relocated facility along with the planned solar and wind generation initiatives. The fact the Island produces its own power is a unique and interesting story for visitors and the discreet location of the new facility makes this story less visible. This could be through art park concepts, or installed in part of the Post Office and/or Workshop Community Space.
