You can still help...
The children of Vacation Bible School, and their parents,
collected duffel bags to be donated to foster children in
Houston County. Most often when a child comes into
foster care they have no possessions.
Each foster child accumulates things, like toys, clothes,
books, personal hygiene kits, and other belongings like
any other child. We have learned that when they move
from placement to placement, which is frequently the
case, they move their belongings in trash bags.
We would like to add some additional dignity to their
lives by providing 100 new duffel bags to be distributed
to children as they come into foster care in Houston
County.
So far, our Vacation Bible School effort has yielded 52bags. The "Duffel Bag Mountain" is located in the
hallway just outside the Fellowship Hall.
You are invited to bring a new bag to add to thecollection when you come to church on Sunday.
When Krissy Walker told the children about this need, she asked them a question, "When you go spend thenight at your grandparents house, do you carry yourpajamas and clothes for the next day in a trash bag?"One bright pre-schooler spontaneously and loudly said,"NOOOOOOOO!" The other children agreed.
Thanks to all who have and will make a contribution to"Duffel Bag Mountain" so every child can have thesame basic dignity as ours.
