Absolute Location
Longitude- (meridians) circle the earth pole to pole, and measure distance east to west of the Prime Meridian
Latitude- (parallels) circle the earth parallel to the equator, and measure distance north and south of the equator
Location Terms
Equator- circles the earth like a belt, divides the earth into hemispheres, equator is 0 degrees latitude
Hemisphere- ½ sphere– (Northern, southern, eastern, western)
Prime Meridian- line that runs from north to south, everything to the east of the PM for 180 degrees is the eastern hemisphere while everything to the west of the PM for 180 degrees is the western hemisphere. The PM runs through Greenwich England and is located at 0 degrees longitude.
