Duke Energy Gas Transmission donates $5000 to College of New Caledonia
Prince George, BC – Duke Energy Gas Transmission recently donated $5000 to the College of
New Caledonia for use in the Trades division.
“We’ll use the funds for the welding trailer to take training out into the regions,” said Jan Jonker,
CNC’s Dean of Trades. “This donation will help us outfit the trailer, which we plan to take to
Mackenzie, Vanderhoof, and Burns Lake, to offer our Level C welding program.”
"Duke Energy is committed to supporting trades education, particularly when delivered to students
on-site throughout the region,” said Steve Henderson, Manager, Community and Aboriginal
Relations, Duke Energy Gas Transmission. “It is our goal to assist in the development of a skilled
workforce to benefit all industries, while strengthening our communities."
The welding trailer contains portable welding booths, an air extraction system for use when
welding on site, and welding supplies. The seven-month Level C program is the basic level of
welding training. It’s also offered at CNC’s Prince George and Quesnel campuses.
