A Record of Oral Language and Biks and Gutches have been revised and redesigned by Marie Clay for much improved clarity and accessibility. Clay has long encouraged greater attention to oral language in the classroom and the new editions of these assessments support her point of view with a simple means of observing and recording what children say in school. A Record of Oral Language and Biks and Gutches help you understand and monitor young children’s control of English as they gradually increase over the school years.

The assessments techniques are appropriate for:

• children of four to seven years of age whose home language is English

• English learners who began speaking English within the last five years.
