September 2020 Volume 62 Issue 3 Can you believe it’s Labor Day already? This year the days seem to fly by while other things seem to make time drag on and never be over. It was great to see you at the last 2 meetings we’ve been able to hold. The board is working on locations for the September and October meetings. Hoping to hold these 2 meetings because of the importance to the club and it’s functioning for the coming year. What is their importance? September meeting we have nominations for Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor and Charity for 2021. October meeting is the election of those persons running for the previous said positions. A reminder for nominations, if you are nominating someone at the meeting that person must be present to voice their approval of the nomination. You probably know the Fall Picnic at Webster Golf Club has been cancelled for 2020 and rescheduled to 2021. As you can probably guess this is because of recommendations from the health department and government officials limiting such events to 50 persons. The RCC Board didn’t feel it was appropriate to hold the event with a limit of person 50 when the event usually has approximately 150 plus members attend. By the middle of October the RCC Board should have a decision on the club’s Christmas Party to be held in December. As of this writing it’s not looking good. Most venues feel the restrictions they are currently operating under will be in effect thorough the end of the year if not longer. Hope this isn’t true but no one knows for sure. The club is trying something different in the way email “Blasts” are sent from the club. We hope this will correct the issue people have experienced that use RoadRunner/Spectum for their email provider. I would like to have those that use this provider for email to let me know when they don’t get an email blast but, how would you know you didn’t get an email. What do they call this? A catch 22? Thank you to those that have organized various outings in this current climate. Watch your email and the Facebook Page for notices of events and meetings. Hope this finds all of you in good health. Bob Hoffarth worked with the Town of Henrietta to set up a reverse parade. This is where the cars, etc are parked and the spectators drive by. It was a huge success. There were 20 RCC cars participating in this delayed Memorial Day /Independence day celebration. Bob and George Werner did a short memorial service with the anthems of each military branch played along with our National Anthem. Tom Clemen blew taps. Thanks Bob.

We are looking for people to host events. It is easy. Just let Bud Thayer, our Social Chair know what, when and where you want to do an event and he

will put it on our website and send it out as a blast. There are many things you can do, i.e. cruises to various places i.e. wineries, restaurants, parks,

poker run or scavenger hunt to name a few.

  • RCC at the Webster Summer Celebration It was a beautiful day at the Webster Parks and Recreation Dept. for a "Drive Thru" Summer Celebration annually put on by the Town of Webster. Only this year didn't include the normal activities. It was called the Webster Summer Celebration - Reimagined. A great alternative was presented to the kids. Fire Trucks, Police Cars, Goodie Bags, Spikes from the Red Wings, all sorts of friendly characters showed up plus the Rochester Corvette Club with a C3, C5, C6, C7 and the new C8 vehicles were on display. We even had another Corvette enthusiast show up with his Sebring Orange C8 Corvette. Our President Doug Rigerman put together a new stand for our latest 60th Anniversay Banner. It was hot day, but the turnout was great. I believe there were over 800 cars that drove through to see the displays and interact with the characters and the folks handing out all the goodies. Thanks again for the Cosmas and Robinsons with their C7s, Roseann Lucania with her daily driver, the Clauss' with their brand new Red C8 Stingray, the Gaebels with their C6, the Rigermans with their C3 and C5 and the Nortons with their daily driver.

  • On June 20th Gayle DiSisto headed a fabulous cruise to Clarence Antique Mall. There were 20 cars in the caravan. Ten left from Panarama Plaza and we met up with the other ten cars at Dunkin Donuts in Bergen. We spent a few hours checking out all the bargains and socializing under a great shad tree. From there we headed to LeRoy to Smokin’ Eagle BBQ. A great lunch was had by all and some headed for ice cream after. Thanks Gayle for a great event.

  • Visiting with Steve and Cathy Popple. Get well soon Steve. We miss you guys.

  • The Rochester Convention Center Car Show was really great this year. Even though Attendance was down due to the Corona Virus scare, we managed to get in under the wire from March 5th thru Mar. 8th. We had the Best Spot ever, overlooking the terrace & Genesee River. Thank you Kitty for the 2020 White Coupe and Steve & Mat for delivery & Pick-up. Thanks to John Terrano for his light Blue 2019 Coupe, Tom Rodrigus for his new 2020 Bright Royal Blue Convertible, and Ed Steier for his Torch Red 2018 Coupe and all their help in setting up the day before the show along with some other members help & Henry Gable our Electrician. Thanks to all who manned the Club table, sold 50/50 tickets (with 6 different drawings), took donations & sold Honor Flight merchandise. At the July meeting I was able to give our Treasurer $844.00 from the 50/50s & the donations! I was finally able to deliver the last 50/50 winner Linda Durfy, in West Henrietta her $50.00 winnings. I'm glad I'm finally done with holding those funds since MARCH! The Show promoter retired after that show after 38 years, so we're waiting to see if we'll be invited back in 2021 (if there is a show), by the new promoter, whoever that will be. I hope so. I also want to Thank Tom Rodrigus for taking all the stanchion bases used at the show and the rest that were at my home. He reworked all of them with his carpentry skills & painted them. He cleaned up the poles and now they are sturdy and ready to go to the next show. Thank you so much Tom, I & the Club really appreciate all your efforts. Thank you all again, Carmela Parade organizer & Special Event Car Show Coordinator
