The Velvet Revolution Redux

Tehran, Iran - Supporters of Presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi, peacefully rally, cloaked in his message of peace and change, wearing their campaign’s green head bands, days leading up to the soon to be disputed 2009 elections. Days later, scores of Mousavi’s followers flooded the countries main squares to dispute the super quick election re-sults keeping the incumbent Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in power. Several thousand non-violent protesters were reported in one central square of Tehran alone. Government officials reacted violently and smothered the movement, for now. Like the 1989 non-violent revolution in Czechoslovakia called The Velvet Revolution or Gentle Revolution, this movement is one of peace and non-violence.
