Article Title

My article title will be called, “Right Hook Ruin” because it is the name of the band that I have interviewed so as it is clear from the start who the DPS is about.

It will be in ‘Black Casper' font because it ties in with the grungy theme of the band but also to tie in with the font of the Masthead of the front cover.

It will be in black and white because it will tie in with the Masthead of my magazine and will be easiest to read.

I will position the title in the centre of the first page below the slug because it co relates to the ‘Z shape’ of the western eye flow.

Leading Text

My leading text will say “The up and coming band that’s ready to knock all competition out of the water talk to Riff Raff about their rise to fame” because as the leading text it needs to act as a introduction to the band and the interview.

It will be in Times New Roman font so as to tie in with the ‘Main Body Text’ of the interview.

It will be red so as to set itself apart from the Main body text making easier for the reader to distinguish.

I will position the leading text below the article title and above the main body text because so as to tie the two together and to serve as an introduction.

Main Image

My Main image will be of the guitarist and drummer of the band ‘Right Hook Ruin’ in a bathroom with rubber ducks so as to bear the connotations of ‘clean’ cut which will serve as irony as the band featured are far from being called ‘clean’ in terms of their lyrics and rock and roll lifestyle.

I will position the image on the right hand side and encroaching on the left page over the gutter. This is because the image is a key way in which the band is visually presented therefore the image needs to be large and have it’s own page to be focused on.

Main Body textMy Main Body Text will be an interview with the subject of the Main Image

the guitarist and drummer of ‘up and coming band’, ‘Right Hook Ruin’. I will include questions such as how they were formed and what they are

planning for the future of their band. I will do this because the purpose of an interview is to collect reliant information about a band that is only just beginning to rise in fame therefore not many readers would know about them including their origins, the music genre and plans for the future.

It will be in Times New Roman because a Serif font is easiest to read for large amounts or main body text.

It will be in black because it will tie in with the Masthead of my magazine, the article title and will be easiest to read.

I will position the main body text under the leading text above the page number of the left page because the leading text serves as the introduction to the main body text which is the main focus of the DPS.

Pull QuoteMy main Pull Quote will be taken from the main body text and will be

“Hook by name, Hook by nature”. It will be this because it has connotations of suggesting that the bands music is catchy and memorable meaning that the reader will want to read more about why they are like this in the interview.

It will be in Times New Roman font because so as to tie in with the main body text that it is positioned within and so it is easier to read.

It will be in red because not only will it tie in with the colour of the leading text and magazine colour scheme but also because red is bold and bright and will bring attention to the pull quote especially since it is among the main body text that has the same font.

I will position it within the Main body text to encourage the reader to read the text in order to find out what the pull quote is talking about.

Slug

My Slug will be ‘News’ because it is one of my editorial pillars but also because the interview is providing information/news about new up and coming bands or the latest news on existing bands and music events.

It will be in ‘Reboard’ font because it is a decorative and Sans serif font which will set itself apart from the rest of the DPS as the slug.

It will be in red because in needs to draw attention and to tie in with the colour scheme of the magazine which is white, black and red.

I will position the slug in the top right corner of the first page above the article title because that is where the western eye flow begins in the left third.

Caption

My Caption will be “ The RHR girls know how to have some good clean fun. The drummer Billie (top) and guitarist TJ (below)” because it fits the connotations of the main image as a play on words in response to the visual making it clever and memorable.

It will be in Times New Roman font because a Serif font is easiest to read especially since it will be in small font.

It will be in black because it will tie in with the Masthead of my magazine, the article title and will be easiest to read.

I will position the caption in the top right corner of the Main image of the second page. I will do this because captions are conventionally place within the corners of images in magazines so that it does not disrupt the image or cover the subject of the image.

Page 10: Double Page Spread Plan

Page Number

My page number will be “12” in Times New Roman in the left hand bottom corner of the page as the right hand page will be taken up by the main image.

Page 11: Double Page Spread Plan

Gutter

The gutter is useful in the way it will act as an effective border between the information of the Main body text and the Main image. I want this effect as I don’t want my reader to be too distracted by the image to not fully take in the information which is needed as the subject is a new band therefore not a lot is yet known about them and their music.

Page 12: Double Page Spread Plan

White Space

I will include white space in order to provide a space between and around my text and image so they are not crowded together and so that they are clear to separate and to read.
