The pictures I have used have been all converted and editing into black and white, grey scale setting, blending with the theme of the magazine. The picture from the front cover i have used also in the double spread, to create a relation between the front cover and the magazine drawing in and attracting the reader to the main themed magazine pull. The other two pictures used both have a shadowed effect around the edges and close up of the guitar has a reflective editing quality that will go against the black background creating an illusion effect. The last main image consists of all the band members together playing in a rehearsal studio – this demonstrates the realism of the magazine pictures effect, relating to the interview and it being an exclusive one, showing the magazine have the inside story, this attracts the reader because it shows the audience this is a rare inside quality.

The test I’ve used for my double page spread, portrays ‘chemical wake’s’ logo name title in full across both pages making it large and stand out. The main body text is in black against the white background it is a simple font making it clear to the reader when its in a smaller font. The pull out quote font is also very simple and bold in capital letters to stand out against the contrasting backgrounds.

The colours are the same theme throughout the entire magazine with a black and white themed version. By converting the double page spread also in black, white and grey and using black and white photo’s makes the double page spread be included within the theme of the magazine.

I liked the idea of having the background an array of the same pictures in different camera angles and shot types all in back and white with a translucent effect. This would make the main image bolder and larger from the rest of the pictures. I feel this would demonstrate a more personal ‘effect’ for the audience and the magazine it gives it a much more personal feel. The body of text is rather small making the pictures, title and slug the main features of the double page spread i think this is effective to attract immediate attention straight away to the double page spread and what the double page spread is about creating mainly visual communication between the magazine and reader.

This double page spread offers a variety of different contrasts between the colours of black and white by creating strange effects with the editing of the images by ‘reflecting’ them or creating a glowing or shadowed effect. By showing a variety of different images in a variety of different ways i think will visually attract the reader into reading the double page spread. The pull out quote is another useful technique here, this will also help draw in the reader, by placing it in-between the body of text (interview) sucks the reader into the story. There is also a pull quote in between pictures to give them a visual precipitation of the ‘chemical wake’ double page spread. By playing with layers also makes the title look much more 3d and gives an eye catching effect by over lapping pictures and other titles.
