Chondrus crispus Chondrus crispus Found on the coasts of the North Atlantic, Chondrus crispus belongs to the red algae family. Widely used in the food and cosmetics industries for its stabilizing properties, it is also used in the fi eld of medicine for its wealth of vitamins, minerals and amino acids with antirheumatic, mineral-replenishing and invigorating actions. PomegranatePunica granatum Native to Iran, where it is said to have been domesticated some 5,000 years ago, the pomegranate became the favourite fruit of travellers at a very early date. Easy to transport, it allowed you to quench your thirst during long journeys on foot thanks to its tough outer shell, the pericarp, which perfectly conserves the freshness of its 800 or so seeds saturated with water. Through its many wanderings, it thus spread into Asia and then throughout the Mediterranean basin, where it became the symbol of fertility and love. Nowadays, the pomegranate is of interest to scientists for its antioxidant properties and their role in the prevention of blood circulation disorders. In cosmetics, its pericarp rich in tannins is recognised for its ability to tighten the pores and control skin shine.

KatafrayCedrelopsis grevei The katafray is a tree found across Madagascar, and its elegant silhouette is a common sight in the arid forests of the south and west of the Grande Ile. Its light-coloured wood is as resistant as ebony and widely used in local building. In traditional Madagascan medicine, a drink prepared from the bark is reputed to have tonic and febrifuge benefi ts and its essential oil is known for its fortifying and soothing actions.
