TRANSCRIPT
STEP 1
Lightly draw your skull pattern onto your mask. Remember to include flourishes, flowers and hearts to capture the traditional style.Look to our mask for inspiration or come up with your own design!
TIP
Paint one colour at a time and allow the paint to dry in between colours so there is less risk of smudging!
STEP 2
Paint your mask in bright colours. We chose yellow for the base colour of our mask as it’s nice and bright but also allows you tosee your pencil design through the paint.
STEP 3
Once your mask is completely painted and dry, outline all the decorative swooshes and shapes using a thick black marker.
STEP 4
Gather a bunch of brightly coloured ribbons long enough to be hair and tie a knot in the middle of the bunch.
TIP
We used a hot glue gun to add more glue on each side of the mask at ear level. We then attached the ribbons there as well tomake sure they framed the mask nicely. Adult supervision is required when using a hot glue gun.
STEP 5
Attach your ribbons by the knot to the top of your skull mask with glue. Allow to dry.
STEP 6
Glue your fabric petals across the top and sides of your mask, building them up gradually until you have an explosion of fabricblooms! Allow to dry.
