• Litter can cause water pollution.• In rubbish disposal alone last year

America had to pay $11 billion.• It can start diseases from insects and

rodents.• Litter could push away tourists and

visitors from the area.

HOW TO STOP LITTER• Throw litter away in the bin and not on

the floor.• Make your friends throw all their litter in

the bin.• Volunteer to pick up and throw away

litter.• If you see litter pick it up.• If you see someone littering report them.

FACTS ABOUT LITTER• It takes a million years for a glass bottle

to decompose.• Every 12 minutes a fire starts in litter.• Each thousands of animals suffer from

eating or choking litter.• It takes a plastic jug 70 years to

decompose.• Nearly the half the population of the UK

admit to littering.• You can be fined up to £80 on the spot if

you are found littering.
