With Sunset Fun Run, there is no selling or delivering products, and it reinforces the value of fitness. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student will run on the day of the Fun Run on October 1st, 2015. To make our fundraising significantly easier, more profitable, and more fun, we’ve asked the experts at Boosterthon to power the entire 9-day program. Boosterthon has been organizing Fun Runs for 13 years and is partnering with 1,600 other schools across America this year. Funds raised will go toward School beautification and giving our students a wonderful 9-day experience.

EVERY STUDENT INCLUDED

Regardless of financial participation, every student is invited to participate in the entire Fun Run program. Students will also receive a FREE gift just by being registered on funrun.com.

WORLD-CLASS CHARACTER PROGRAM

Powered by Boosterthon, this year’s character theme

is BIG WORLD RECESS, a global sports theme all

about playing with character. Our students will travel

the world and learn 6 Character Plays from REAL kid-

athletes who play a sport and show REAL character.

LESS HASSLE & MORE PROFIT

To get the most out of our Fun Run, we’re using Boosterthon’s pledging technology—funrun.com—that helps us raise and collect far more. We’re also using thousands of fun print pieces to help promote our Fun Run. Plus, their

amazing team coordinates all the details and logistics, allowing us to better

focus on education.

THE MOST VALUE

Most schools keep between 40-50% with other fundraisers. But Sunset PTA will receive 54% have more fun, and raise much more. Plus, Boosterthon covers all the costs of the program. Using Boosterthon, Sunset PTA has profited over $20,000.00 on our previous run. And this year, our goal is to profit over $25,000.00. We need your help to do it!

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

“Being brilliant is no great feat if you

respect nothing.” -Johann Wofgang von Goethe

RESPECT: Showing regard for the worth and dignity of someone or something. Being courteous and polite, and judging all people on their merits. Respect takes three major forms: respect for oneself, respect for other people, and respect for all forms of life and the environment.

Pass It On to Parents • Watch a television show or movie together as a family. Discuss how the

characters were respectful or disrespectful to one another. • Talk to your children about respect they experienced throughout the day,

week, or month. Were there situations where they felt disrespected? Discuss how they should handle these feelings.

• Create a RESPECT expectation sheet for your family and keep it posted in the house. You should include what respect should look like in your home.

• Encourage open and honest communication with your child. Talk about a variety of concerns. A child who knows you are open to listening about anything is more willing to share things that are troubling. This is very important if the child is being bullied.

Activities for Schools • At the end of every week, have students make a list and describe the

ways they acted respectfully that week. Make sure they include how they respected their siblings and other family members (K-5).

• Have students work alone or with a partner to create a song, rap, or chant about respect. The words tell why respect is important and how it could make the world a better place (6-12).

• Have students research and write about ways we can be more respectful of our environment (6-12).

• Have students make a campaign poster about respect. Make sure they include the word RESPECT and give at least three reasons why they support respect at their school (K-12).

• Create a RESPECT bulletin board. Ask teachers to nominate students who have been particularly respectful and place their pictures on the board (K-8).

• Have students write a commercial for respect. Try to sell respect so others will want to start using it (6-12).

• Have students research and present current events that involve someone who was either respectful or disrespectful (6-12).
