Problems of Equality & Power

Donald Trump: The Monster

By Aidan Brennan (200218632)

What Are the Problems Associated with Power and Inequality?

• Nowadays, it seems like with money, anyone can do anything, and that’s a problem.• As probably all of you know, Donald Trump is running for President of the United

States. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but my opinion is that he’s a misogynist, racist, terrible example of how to be a human being.

• The only plus I’ll let Donald Trump have is that he’s funding his own campaign. If that man was using the people of America’s dollars, the issue would even be bigger.

• You may be wondering why I choose to relate Trump to an umbrella topic, but I feel that the issue is very relevant at this point of time, and an issue I closely follow.

• The first thing I’d like to talk about him is his relation to the abuse of power.

Page 3: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

The Theory Behind Trump…

• I feel like the theory that Trump fits into is Karl Marx’s Conflict Theory. • The reason I feel this way is because 1) Trump doesn’t believe the rich should be taxed

more, and wants to help his own (the rich) while leaving the poor in the dust. This relates directly to the conflict theory because Trump truly believes in a segregated society.

• He believes that USA’s society should be segregated due to wealth, social status, race, religion and gender. This is 100% Marx’s theory on conflict because he wants to use his power to keep society separated, rather than try and merge the gap between classes, and the racial/sexist issues America has.

• Believing that society should be separated without diversity is someone who is a true believer of Marx’s conflict theory. I will explain in detail why he believes in a “separate America”.

The Abuse of Power

• Donald Trump is a powerful figure in the USA at this point as surprisingly he is a lead candidate for President.

• Trump has been compared to a “bully” and referenced to a football player who throws punches in a dog pile by Conor Friedersdorf from TheAtlantic.com.

• This is the problem with certain politicians in this world, bullying.• Trump uses fear to gain votes, and roll through minorities. • Personally, Trump reminds me of learning about communist leaders in the past,

like Stallin, Adolf Hitler, and Fidel Castro.• Trump uses fear tactics by scaring citizens by filling their heads with false

information, improbable promises, racism and sexism.

Trump, or America’s Fault?Donald Trump, pictured to the right, is a notorious racist, and misogynist. Its actually near impossible to believe that this man has one single vote, never mind a lead candidate. There is still many individuals in this world who are strong racists, and misogynists. By doing his research and finding states who have similar beliefs as him, and use his money, power and position, to fuel his followers fire’. If there wasn’t people who had these awful beliefs, he wouldn’t be doing so well. He uses a bullying tactic that involves calling people out, and publicly embarrassing them, making his followers join in on the humiliation. He has been recorded calling protesters fat, ugly, poor, and other terrible remarks, and his supporters actually love it.

How Can Power Can be a Problem?

• Power becomes an issue when votes and followers happen from creating fear, and your countrymen are afraid of you, resulting in you joining them to not be left in the dark.

• Trump has no problem standing up in a rally, and providing vile, untrue facts to a crowd of supporters who are so brainwashed by him.

• Trump generalizes people, looks down upon minorities, and woman, while making sure to make fun of others in an effort to seem funny and “real”.

• Trump has been on records putting down Rosie O’Donnell, making fun of a disabled reporter by mocking his hand gestures, as well as constantly degrading woman with terms like dogs and pigs.

• By doing this in front of his supporters, they see a “politician” with good power, thinking those actions are okay, and follow his way of seeing current issues.

Page 7: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

How Can Power Can be a Problem?

• When people like Trump get power, the have the ability to have their opinion and views heard, including the bad ones. When people with bad opinions can have them so publicly heard, they seem really logical and thought out to others, simply because of the power the deliverer holds.

• Trump also uses current world issues and local issues to feed his campaign, by using those problems to make new promises, and views.

• For example; events like the Paris & Brussels bombings, past events like 9/11 and the Boston Marathon, Trump talks about them as being current or past President’s problems, and generalizing the people involved, and promising crazy, unethical tasks like bombing a nation, due to a small group of extemists.

Page 8: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump & Inequality

• Inequality, simply, is unethical and wrongful treatment, assumptions etc. of someone just because of gender, sexual orientation, religion or race.

• Trump is simply the most racist, sexist presidential candidate of all time. • He has gone on record many times putting down religions, specifically the

Muslim religion, woman, and homosexuals.• As a nation, as a continent and a world, we as humans have been working for

so long to end stereotypes, and support equality, and someone like this comes along and tries to break everything we’ve worked for, especially for a country as big and influential as the USA.

Page 9: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people

You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming from her wherever.

I am calling for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States

Look at that face. Would anybody vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?! I mean she's a woman, and I’m not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks,

come on. Are we serious?

These are just a tiny sample of actual quotes from various Donald Trump rallies and interviews, showing how much she strives for

inequality.

Page 10: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Donald Trump has repeatedly used bullying techniques on oppositions like Hilary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders by using personal matters, and unpolitical issues to bully and humiliate his opponents, which brings debates to a whole new unethical level. This is just another pure example of misuse of power. He gains followers because many believe the way he “roasts” other people is comical, and see his use of power blindly. People see the way he treats other as powerful, and that he is the end all mighty powerful. This is bad because then others will think that’s what wins votes, and that’s the way to treat people.

Page 11: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump and War on Religion

• Trump has single handily set the USA back to the early 1900’s with his racist views.• He has has stated that he doesn’t want any Muslims allowed into the US, and all

current Muslims to be ID’d, remind you of anyone? Hitler and his view of the Jews.• He has single handily blamed the Muslim religion for 9/11, Paris and Brussels. He

does not grasp the concept of extremist groups. Extremist groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda have repeatedly claimed responsibility.

• Because of these beliefs, he has vowed to make American-Muslims lives a living hell, asking for them to be treated like numbered animals in a zoo, watching all their views, as well as not allowing future immigration because he fears that they’re all terrorists.

Page 12: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump the Misogynist

• Trump is undoubtedly one of the most sexist men in the public eye. Making him a terrible role model for children, adults and a terrible person to potentially have as a leader of arguably the most influential country in the world.

• United States as a country has fought for so many years, and the world has to have men and woman seen as equals. With someone like Trump coming, who truly and publicly believes that woman aren’t equal, their opinions don’t matter, and is fighting with really poor platforms to have rights of woman stripped, and to truly make America believe that a woman couldn’t run the country.

• The problem with this is the uprooting of history. Overtime men have worked alongside woman to get things like voting, right of speech, and things like the ability of a woman being allowed to run for president.

Page 13: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump the Misogynist

• Trump has gone on record calling girls pigs, slobs and commenting on their appearance in a negative way, using it in a way that states that their appearance is fully what their person is, and there is nothing more to a woman.

• This of course shows his idea of politics. He feels that when he his attacked about his platforms, he can resort to attacking someone's appearance, which one is bullying, and two a poor representation of ethical politics. Attack someone's opinion, but not their appearance, because it has no true reflection on their ability to be a good politician.

• Trump has mocked female reporters for their fiery responses to his sexist comments by saying things about their periods, or home sex life.

Page 14: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump the Misogynist

• Trump has recently stated in the news that he wants to provide a full abortion ban, which I am personally stating no opinion on but he is going about it completely the wrong way.

• He’s taking something that shouldn’t be about gender, but prolife related, and making is misogynist.

• Trump wants to not only ban abortions, but charge the female under a late decided charge, even if the pregnancy is unwanted or forced, but not lay charges on the male.

• Trump has repeatedly said that Hilary Clinton can’t be president for reasons such as no female could run a country, jokingly if she’s on her period she can’t run, and other terrible things that derail the nations last 100 years of work towards equality.

Page 15: Donald Trump: Problems with Power & Equality

Trump: A Bad ExampleI saw a very interesting video which I would share if this was presented in front of the class, it involved a comparison between Trump and Trudeau. Whether you like Trudeau or not, the evidence between a good and a bad leader was concrete. It showcased each politicians view on Syrian immigration, their views and way they treat the opposition, and equality. The way Trudeau respectively and professionally deals with each of the categories and has really ethical views on all categories, shows his true worth as an effective, ethical leader. Trudeau uses his power to make things happen, while listening to his country people, and being ethical and fair in the process.

Trump & His Issue to Society

• In a nutshell, in my opinion, Trump is a determent to society. He puts others down, he’s racist, he’s sexist and he openly hates anyone non-American. He uses his power for bad things, and strikes fear into his non believers.

• Trump teaches racism, sexism, and all around unethical treatment of other humans, due to things they can’t control like race, gender and sexual orientation.

• He is the epitome of what a bad, fearing leader is, and should not be elected as he is an actual risk to the countries past and present.
