The 5 W’s of Enrolling: You will be enrolling in your Fall quarter courses based on
academic advising today. It is important to have your schedule mapped out and
cleared by an academic counselor in order for you to enroll.
1. WHAT am I enrolling in?
2 & 3. WHEN and WHERE will I be enrolling? You will be registering on a computer with an internet connection after this session.
4 & 5. HOW and WHO will I be enrolling? You will be registering for classes on a system called
WebReg. WebReg is UCI’s secured internet response registration system that allows you to enroll in classes from anywhere in the world using your UCInet ID and password.
Access WebReg at http://www.reg.uci.edu You will be registering only yourself for classes.
About WebReg:• Add or drop a course• Change your grade option for a course when
appropriate• Modify the units in a variable unit class• Check your eligibility to enroll• Confirm your class schedule• WebReg will inform you of any student record
holds on your record and the department you need to contact
• Accessible 7 days per week, except 4-6 a.m. (scheduled maintenance)
• Your enrollment window opens this afternoon.– You may not enroll in classes before then.– Once your enrollment window opens you have

What else do I need to know about enrollment?
• If you are receiving any financial aid, you must be enrolled in at least 6 units before it will be given.
• The first day of instruction is always the first day of lecture, except for Humanities Core and anything Prof. Pattis teaches
• You may not repeat a course for which you have received credit via AP exam, articulation review, or have received a Pass or grade of C or better.
Common WebReg Error Messages
• I sign up for my course and after I log out of WebReg, my course(s) gets dropped. Why?– You may not have signed up for accompanying lab and/or
disc• I am not able to add a course
– You have reached the 18 unit maximum limit (waitlisted units are also applied to this)
– Course conflicts are not allowed• I get the error message- prerequisite not met.
– You have not met the prerequisite of the course (check your catalogue or student handbook for course prerequisites)
– You have completed the prerequisite by AP exam, non-UCI course, petition, or exception to policy.
• WebReg cannot recognize any of these course credits• You must get an academic counselor of the department that
offers the course to clear you• For Bren School courses, you must either stop by the Student
Affairs office or call 949-824-5156 to get yourself placed on the prerequisite clearing list DO NOT WAIT THE DAY BEFORE YOUR WINDOW OPENS TO DO THIS!
Prerequisite Clearing and You• The Registrar’s system will not automatically
recognize when prerequisites have been completed outside of the University. This means that you will need to receive clearance for many courses before being able to enroll.
• Our office has developed on on-line prerequisite clearing form that can be accessed 24/7.
• Before your enrollment window opens, look up the prereqs for the courses you wish to enroll in. If you finished any of the prereqs outside of UCI, turn in a request for the courses. https://ugradforms.ics.uci.edu.
• DO NOT put in requests for courses you do not need clearance for. It creates extra work for us and slows us down.
