GENERAL GAME RULES: JAMAICAN PARTNER DOMINOES, there are many variations of domino games; this tournament will be based on the Jamaican partner style of domino play. Nonetheless, for the sake of clarity, the rules below trump any understanding players may have of partner dominoes. Anything not covered by the rules will be left to the sole discretion of the judges.

PLAYERS, each game will have four players, two against two as partners facing each other. Changing partners is not permitted once the tournament has begun.

CHANGING POSITIONS, once seated, players are not permitted to change positions during a match.

GAME, a team wins a game when one of its players is the first to play their last domino, or if the game is blocked, the player who has the lowest combined total of dots on the dominoes remaining in their hand wins the game.

SET, consists of a minimum of 6* games. The first team to win 6 games wins the SET (*- A set will be 4 games in rounds 1)

SHUFFLING, all dominoes are shuffled face down and each player draws 7 dominoes. No redraw or reshuffle is permitted due to voids in suits or too many doubles. The team behind in the game is required to do the shuffling and cannot draw dominoes until the opposing team has drawn their dominoes. If the opposing team is not satisfied with the shuffle, prior to drawing their hand, they can ask for a reshuffle.

IF A DOMINO IS EXPOSED DURING THE SHUFFLE, the dominoes shall be reshuffled

IF A DOMINO IS EXPOSED DURING THE DRAW, the dominoes will not be reshuffled (it is the responsibility of each player to protect their dominoes at all times)

DOUBLE SIX, in the first game the player with the double six plays first, in subsequent games either of the players of the winning team of the previous game starts the game with any domino he wants, double or otherwise.

PLAY TO YOUR RIGHT, after the first domino is played, the next player to the opener’s RIGHT plays a domino or passes and the game continues counter clockwise.

KNOCKING, if you cannot play knock on the table to signal that you pass, alternately say pass.

ASKING FOR COUNT, if and only if it is your turn to play you may ask for a count of the total number of dominoes in each players hand.

BAD PASS or COMPULTORY PASS, players are not allowed to pass if they have a domino that can legally be played. If a bad pass is caught before the next player acts (plays or passes), the player making the bad pass may play. If a bad pass is discovered after the next player acts the team making the bad pass forfeits the game.

BLOCKING THE GAME, if the game is blocked the player with the fewest dots of their combined remaining dominoes wins the games. Partners do not combine their dominoes. In the case of a tied game, the game is replayed with the player drawing the double six playing first. The replayed game is worth 1 game.

MISPLAYED DOMINO, if caught before the next person plays or passes, will be played elsewhere on the table, if it will play. If it will not play, it will be turned face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity by the person making the error. Prior to the next play, the player with the turned-up domino must play or pass.

IF PLAYED OUT OF TURN, the domino will be left face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity.

TOURNAMENT RULES: All teams MUST have a name.

All teams MUST register and pay entry fees of $60

NO CHEATING is permitted by word, deed, or action, including trying to transfer information to a partner. Any suspected cheating should immediately be called to the attention of the floor judge. Do not wait until after the game or hand. Forfeiture of one game or expulsion from the tournament can be the result of cheating. If cheating is suspected, the Judge will institute the NO CODING rule (see below)
