Equipping Children for LIFE Tomorrow evening Delta Christian School will hold the Language
Arts Showcase from 7:00 pm to 8:20 pm. Every child will be
participating in this event. Please make sure that your child(ren) come
dressed in their school uniforms. There are three sessions scheduled to
accommodate families with multiple students and to allow all students
the opportunity to attend one session conducted by another class.
Session One: 7:00 – 7:20 pm Kindergarten – Grade 4 will be performing
Session Two: 7:30 – 7:50 pm Kindergarten – Grade 7 will be performing
Session Three: 8:00 – 8:20 pm Grade 5 – Grade 7 will be performing
The gym will also be set up exhibiting samples of student writings from
throughout the grades. Please remember to visit this Gallery of Student
Work as well during our Language Arts Showcase tomorrow night.
On Friday, February 27, there will be no school for Delta Christian School
students. The teachers will gather with other teachers at the Christian
Teachers Association of BC’s Professional Development Day. Many of
our teachers will be attending the Love and Logic seminar for educators.
Love and Logic’s classroom solutions for teachers provides educators
with practical techniques and skills to develop and maintain healthy
classroom environments and loving, nurturing relationships with all
students.
Love and Logic also has a parenting component to their program. Love
and Logic for parenting teaches how to raise responsible kids, how to
have more fun parenting, and how to enjoy healthy and happy
relationships with your children. Vancouver Christian School will be
hosting a Parents Evening on February 26, 2015 on the “Love and Logic
topic. Check the VCS website for more details.

Music/Dessert Night Dessert Night is fast approaching and students are preparing to entertain you! Music is a valued program at Delta Christian School, and part of the well- rounded educational program the school provides for your children. Proceeds from the Dessert Night this year will go to ensuring the program's continued strength by investing in the music library and replacing some worn out materials such as xylophone mallets, broken classroom instruments, etc. A single piece of band music can cost between $30-70, and a single choir song can cost $30-60 to perform legally. For the first time this year, our school has also invested in a Song Select membership (renewable annually), a program used by many churches to reproduce and print sheet music (and transpose with a single mouse click!). This has been invaluable for providing music for our worship team to learn to read and use as they lead chapel services. By investing in music of these types, we can build up our musical resources to allow students to enjoy new music now, comply with legal requirements, and ensure the program is well resourced for students in the future.
Parent Action Committee (PAC) News We are looking for volunteers to help with the Dessert Evening on March 6th. This is a great way to fill your volunteer hours in one event! If you are willing to help, please contact Sandra Hartley at [email protected]
K-3 VANCOUVER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FIELD TRIP
Thank you so much for returning the permission forms for the symphony and for the great parent response. Once again, on Thursday, February 26, we will leave the school at 8:40am sharp, so students are asked to be there by 8:30 am. We will be back at DCS by noon. We will be counting on the following parents to accompany us and help supervise stu-dents on the field trip: Marigold Azcuna, Kristin Kozar, Parm Senghera, Michelle Wesley, Elana Bramley Carolyn Kalf, Saara Capaaldo, Wendy He, Jennifer Somerset, Lisa Somerville Thank you again for volunteering. If we have left your name off, or if you can no longer make it to the VSO field trip, could you please let Mrs. Vanderwart know as soon as possible? ([email protected]) Thank you so much! Mrs. Vanderwart
Thank you to all the families who have been participating in Fundscrip (gift card fundraiser). So far PAC has managed to raise close to $1,000.00 with your support. We will be submitting another order at the end of this month. Please remember that purchasing gift cards for your regular purchases is a huge help and it does not cost you anything. Gas, Groceries, Dinners out, Gifts, etc. It may take a bit of advance planning but it is a win/win for both you and our school. Hard copies are available at the school. Order forms have been sent out in a separate email last week. If you did not receive one, please let Sandra or the school office know and we can email you an order form.

Last week Thursday our grade 6/7 girls basketball team played in the Christian elementary school
tournament held at Carver Christian High School in Burnaby. In total there were 8 teams participating in
this action-filled day of very fun, competitive basketball. Our girls were relentless in their
efforts to play well and win points. Thanks to the fine coaching of Mr. Hart and Mrs. Naysmith
and the determination shown by all the
members of the team, The Delta Dolphins finished in third place! Claire Bidulka was named our
team's most valuable player. Congratulations girls!
Our Delta Christian School boys Basketball team took part in the grade 6/7 boys basketball tournament, last Thursday at White Rock Christian Academy. Our boys played very well and showed great sportsmanship throughout the entire day. We were even treated to breakfast! While we hoped for a better placing we achieved a 7th place- we are proud of how well we worked together as a team and look forward to finishing the rest of the season with the same attitude.

DCS Vision Statement
We, at Delta Christian School, together with the home and church, seek to
equip and nurture our children for a life of joyful Christian service based
on God's Word. We strive to create an environment in which each person
can discover and celebrate their uniqueness, and appreciate the gifts and
needs of others. Our children are led to discover the wonders of God's
creation, to develop a Christian perspective of life and to critically weigh
the issues of the day. Recognizing our God-given responsibility, it is our
purpose to train our children to serve God and neighbor, and to educate
them to be faithful stewards of God's world.
