Principles

Use Powerpoint as a pre-authoring tool

Course will be read by an idividual in front of a screen

Fonts are smaller and screen-ready (Verdana)

Alignment left to comply with Dokeos environment

Use as few colors as possible and go for one palette

When possible stick to one or two words for title

Replace bullets lists by diagrams, mindmaps...

Replace text by audio

Maximise space

You don't have a lot of space available : 720x540 pixels

Remove header and footer, use smaller fonts

Complex diagrams will not be readable

Keep slides simple

Use professional icon sets

Nuvola, Crystal and Tango are freely downloadable

In this presentation, we used Tango

Mindmap + audio = good

Replace text by audio

Remove text and replace by audio

You can record nice MP3 audio comments in Audacity

Good communication = 1 diagram + one audio comment

Build tests in PowerpointPowerpoint is a good storyboarding tool. Type everything in it

including tests. Import in Dokeos Rapid. Then replace test slides by Dokeos tests. Use slide notes to detail test settings.

Flash animations

Here again : use Powerpoint as a storyboarding tool. Add a slide describing the Flash animation. Import. Then replace the slide by the Flash (.swf) file.

Video streaming

The simplest way to add video into Dokeos is to use .flv Flash videos. Dokeos will add a Flash player to play your videos.
