If you have an older dog that already has a problem with bad breath, tartar and plaque it can be rectified, but a visit to your vet will be needed so he can give your dogs teeth a good clean. A small amount off anaesthetic will probably be needed for dental treatment so be prepared to leave the dog at the surgery, this should only need to be done once if you start a good dental program after the dogs teeth have been cleaned. You may also consider your dogs diet, a lot more thought is now put into producing dog food that is shaped to help clean the dogs teeth, choose a premium brand made with human grade products and no nasty additives.

So whether starting from scratch with a new puppy or rectifying a old tooth problem there are lots of ways for you to make dental hygiene part of your dogs daily routine it doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming but will definitely give your dog a better quality of life and no nasty bad breath smell when they are a bit to keen to welcome you home.
